Powerful 2002 team - TAKEN! Topic

The long-running Real Life Progressive League is looking for a new owner for the Toronto Blue Jays. This team is packed in 2002 and should definitely contend (302HRs! 1261 solid IPs with 2.5 aces and two solid starters, plus three legitimate closers). And this team is built for the long term with tons of outstanding batters and at least four very good starters through 2004, and in 2006-2007, plus three in 2008. Here are just some of the studs for 2002: SPs Matt Clement (205IP, 1.20/.215/3.60), Tim Wakefield (164IP, 1.06/.204/2.81), and Ted Lilly (101IP, 1.11/.214/3.69); 1B Jim Thome (480AB, .304/.445/.677, 52HRs), SS ARod (624AB, .300/.392/.623, 57 HRs (none on steroids, I swear!), OF Pat Burrell (590AB, .282/.376/.544, 37HRs), CF Steve Finley (505AB, .287/.370/.499, 25HRs, A/B), Frank THomas with 28HRs, Jay Gibbons with 28HRs, and on and on. And the batting order is stacked for many, many years.

We are approaching game 120, which decides the draft order, and Toronto will probably pick around 12th, but every slot is already in great shape, so you can use your top two picks for future quality. I'm really looking only for an owner who is committed to many seasons, as this team is already loaded.

This progressive league is like most, except that any player who started his career in a season is available to be drafted that season in the first round. In other words, in 2002, P Cliff Lee, C Victor Martinez, OF Jason Werth, and some others started their careers -- but they are not WIS eligible until 2003 or later. A prospect (we keep a separate draft list to make it easy) joins any players you have on the DL/IR until he is WIS eligible. If you select a prospect in the first round, you can pick up your 25th player in the supplemental draft round, which occurs after the normal draft is finished. The rest is pretty standard, with 4 AAA that you select from the 2002 season, and a DH is used in the AL. We have been around for over 60 seasons, and the rules are tight to prevent tanking. Plus, there is a great group of owners in this 24 team league.

Please sitemail if interested, and for further explanation of the rules.

Toronto Blue Jays -- (you probably will want to keep 23 and only draft 2, but it's your call)
