I’d say this is very dependent. For instance, I had a ****** RS2 in crum and am taking 5(!!!!!!) walkons because it’s my second year in the rebuild and we weren’t going to be good anyway so I’m not going to sacrifice our future for a few more wins.

Whereas if I was competing the next season, I’d want to fill up those slots.

it also depends on how bad the guys left are, whether you just got to the team, how many walkons you’d take, etc.

If you’ve spent all your scouting cash, there isn’t much to do, if you’re sure you’ve combed your pool for anyone better than a walk on. So it’s good to hold a little in reserve, both scouting and recruiting, so you have something to work with in RS2, especially regarding transfers. Taking a few walkons isn’t the end of the world; you can play with 8, and you might have a rebuild season, but you’ll have 4+ scholarships (and the resources) next season.

what are the odds of the sim filling 2 spots for you? is it all but guaranteed in d2/d3?

basically you take your lumps and try again next season. the worst possible option is to fill those spots with garbage. those garbage players will hurt you for 4 seasons, eating 4 more scholarships. a walkon will eat one. even though idiots the sim signs for you can get cut and only hurt you for 2 (sigh).

It happens. Changing team is not a good idea. You make up for one bad recruiting session in 1 season. But do sign plan E or F recruits. The way it works is that you rarely get plan A or plan B these days. So just evaluate carefully before you go all-in... and save for C or even D.

i cant find them in high d1, i used to use them back in the day. but ive also been lazy about looking, only looked a couple times. are you guys who are having success with it doing that in d1 or elsewhere?

At least for me.

I am assuming this is a D1 question because D2/D3 schools are still waiting to sign players after RS1. Answer: sign Transfers, JUCOs, and steal recruits from high level D2 schools that are left open. Do this until you have 9 players zone, 9-10 for man, and 10-11 for press/fastbreak.

Top schools in lower divisions often have many players that could play at D1. They just develop them whereas D1 naturally has more ready to start.

You can always cut them in the future if you get better options.
