When these come up, I try to have sympathy. I have forgotten to renew once before at a chaotic time in my life, and it’s happened again.

I live in North Minneapolis, about a block from Broadway, which has been mostly destroyed in the past few days. I’m not going to get into the social stuff here, but if anyone would like to chat about it, I’d be happy to correspond via sitemail.

Anyway, I’d appreciate getting my team back, but others have applied. My mistake, no one else is responsible for it, but thanks for considering.

shoe, have you put in a ticket? Not sure what stage of the jobs period it's at but CS may give you your team back if you provide them with the above context.

Withdrew my application (although your resume would certainly trump mine).

Hope all is okay in the real world.

Thanks texashick.

I did contact CS first, got the expected “not possible” response, so figured i’d proactively mention it here.

Shoe, I have heard of people losing their team after forgetting to renew and talking the new coach into taking another job after he/she took over your team. If you end up losing out it may be worth it to reach out to the new coach as WIS can and as made these type of change.

Thought it was a weird time to rage quit in Lawrence. I suppose Ceej_money will wait a little longer to coach at a monster baseline school.

You definitely have a very valid excuse. Crazy times.

The first round exit was bad, as was going 6-5 after a perfect start. But it’s not like both of those things have never happened to me, lol.

Could have sworn you said you lived in Greenland (wink, wink). On a serious note, try to be safe......crazy times all over this country right now.

I feel like you should get one "forgot to renew card" in your WIS career. Seems you've already used yours. If i took your team there is no way id give it back. Auto Renew.

The first one wasn’t an issue, because I got the job back through the application process. I mentioned that just to say, while I understand it’s easy for coaches to say “Auto renew”, I also understand that it can happen to literally anyone during certain periods of life. But thanks for your take.

FWIW, I use auto renew. Normally I stay at least one team (out of five) ahead with loaded seasons. I play the game for fun rather than credits, meaning I usually have at least one rebuild, often more, that I have to carry. So I’m not one of those guys who has a huge pile of credits stored up. More often than not, I pay money; not a lot, but it’s not 10-pack after 10-pack over here. With Tark and Phelan both falling in or around the same crazy week (last week was also finals week), it was a perfect storm for me.

Why can't they create a pop-up similar to when a new game is simmed that says "HEY, RENEW!"

Ive played over 50 season and never missed a renewal. If for some reason you get your team back and you get recruiting money back ill be very upset and consider this a cheating loophole. Do you want to be perceived as a cheater? Can WIS see how much recruiting money you had left before you forgot to renew? Does Uconn's old coach get all of his money back when he plays nice and gives you your team back? Do you lose your long time recruiting prefs?
Does Ucon? All of these questions could of been avoided with a check of a box. Auto Renew.

good news - nobody gets money back, that was finally corrected a month or two back.

i understand where you are coming from, in that auto renewing is generally pretty easy yet these problems crop up regularly. however, it is possible to use auto renew but run out of seasons (as in this case), and there's other ways well-intentioned people have forgotten. i would also be frustrated if i felt other people were using this to game the system, but given the casual, extremely low stakes nature of this game, i don't think such a hard line should be drawn. i suppose when i start from a place of empathy, considering how this affects the person in question and giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake, the small risk of negative impact i personally face seems irrelevant or trivial. i do have some concern with the inconvenience it places on the other coaches involved and on customer support, but unless i'm one of those folks, i don't really feel i have standing to object (and when i am the other coach, i always rescind, but i don't fault others if they don't).

Actually, just experienced this in Tark; AD starts sending email about CT asking you to renew/renegotiate your contract. Then another. I recall at least 2 AD emails about your job status, maybe 3.
