I'm in a world where the transaction deadline just passed and the waiver wire is chock full of great players. Why? I feel like I should know this, but I'm not quite clear. Thanks in advance.

I assumed it was a trade thing. So, if I put in claims on some of these guys without any wish to trade for them (just hoping to get a steal), is that a dick move?

it is not. Many people put their entire 40 man rosters through waivers after the transaction deadline in case a trade were to come up. Real MLB teams do this as well. You can claim a player for any reason -- sometimes you may claim a player in hopes of acquiring him, sometimes you may claim a player so that he cannot be traded to anyone else.

Just be careful if you put some on the WW after the deadline just to make him available to trade. You have to make sure when you add him to the waiver wire that you make it revocable.

I usually put in a couple claims because you never know if it's really someone they don't mind getting rid of (or forgot to check the box)
