Player Rest Question Topic

Is there a set percentage where a player starts playing below their abilities? If I have auto rest set to 95%, will that player play up to their abilities or do they start declining at 99, 98 etc? I'm trying to figure out how I should be setting my auto rest settings. I always like them at 100% and start benching players below that for rest but is that necessary at 99%? 98%? Etc.

In theory, a player will perform below their abilities starting at 99%. Any effect is indistinguishable from random luck until you get much lower than that though. Some people will say they don't notice much if any drop-off down into the low-90's. Others even have said the 80's. It's more art than science, so test your own limits of fatigue tolerance and find the point where you are comfortable.

100% correct answer from skunk above. Effect begins at 99%, but it's so small, it isn't really noticeable until further. The reason it is often not noticeable until low 90s or even 80s depends on the type of player and outside factors like ballpark, defense, opponents, etc. Fatigue effects certain stats disproportionately due to the decision tree process and you can mitigate the effects of fatigue (to a certain point) if you plan and account for it. It's easier to mitigate with pitchers as you have more control of the other variables, but it works both ways.

Semi similar follow-up : I've heard fatigue actually starts at 110%; ya kinda get the first 10% free. If a guy gets a rest and next game shows 100%, could it actually maybe be 101% or 102% but the status listing is limited in only showing a max of 100% ? If a guy shows 100%, could another day or two off get him to 105 ? 108 ? Nevermind for a minute if some think that's overkill/unnecessary, but is it possible as far as anyone knows.

My first 2 teams are both on pace for 100 losses so this won't be relevant anytime soon, but I've heard of playoff push strategeries in trying to limit fatigue. Just wondering if the two can be combined, or, if you hit 100, that's the max even with more time off.

Just trying to better ramp up and apply. After a couple guys got as low as 70s/80s, everyone is finally as 95+, and just curious if the work is almost done except keep an eye on it maintenance, or can I get even further ahead.

The 10% means you get an extra 10% beyond their real life plate appearances. So a guy with 600 PAs will stay at 100% as long as he's on pace for 660 or fewer PAs. He won't be better if he's on pace for fewer than 660.
