Starting 5 Freshmen Topic

Just curious. Has anyone ever started 5 freshmen? I'm doing a rebuild. There are currently 5 freshmen (1 was recruited by a SIM). They are not studs by any means. But, for the most part, the ratings on the them are just as good (and better in some cases) as the returning players.

I just started 4 freshmen and a sophomore on my CCNY team (all late RS2 signings) and somehow finished above .500 though my schedule was incredibly weak: https://www.whatifsports.com/hd/TeamProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=12423

don't even sweat it bobby. when you are rebuilding in d2/d3, where prestige is more or less meaningless, you really should not remotely concern yourself with anything but the long term. start those freshman. recruit, redshirt, develop players - that is 99% of what matters right now. once you have 3 classes under your belt and you are ready to start competing, you'll be much more ready to do so, having focused solely on rebuilding the team for a couple seasons.

one should not take this *as* extremely in d1 where prestige matters. but mostly.

Thanks. I wasn't sweating it. This will be the first time I've ever started 5 freshmen. When I looked at the roster, I figured I might as well roll with the freshmen - lol...

Would be cool if they sprinkled in some recruits with B+/A+ IQ's so Freshman could have a bigger impact right away. I've always felt the Melo/KD/Zion players were missing from HD. Of course then there'd be endless ******** about 1 and done's but if you knew going into recruiting that there is a 99% chance that a player would leave after his first year then it'd be fair game.

you dont see five FR often, but it for sure has been done and might be the right play

AND I agree one thing missing in the game is the FR who arrives with really high IQ - the kid who can come in and be dominant as a FR - just isnt part of the game

I will be starting 5 freshmen at Kansas in knight this year as well. I've done it before with pretty good success, but certainly can be tricky.

We did this with our Delaware State team last year and ended up at 25-6. They were some really good freshmen. One 5 star, three 4 Stars and an unranked player who was actually quite good as well.
