Need 1 for the Triple Play Prog. League 1924-1926 Topic

We need 1 replacement owner for the second season of the Triple Play Progressive League. Our inaugural season was 1921-1923 and we will soon be starting season 2 1924-1926.

The Triple Play Prog. League progresses 3 seasons at a time. Each season you will get to choose which of the 3 available seasons you will use for each of your players.

The rules for the league are detailed in the immediately following post.

TheTriple Play progressive league will progress 3 years at a time, with the initial season being 1921-1923 and the second season being 1924-1926
Each season you may select which of the 3 seasons you want to use for each of your players.
This league is based on an idea originated by Boddicker (who will be a member of the league).
The league is the 3rd by this Commissioner to use the multi-season theme, folowing the 7 Year Itch and 5 Year Plan leagues.
Full rules for the league are posted immediately below.
You can keep any and all of your roster to play Season 2, if they are still active, which will be seasons 1924-1926. We will draft all the new players after Season 1....
so you keep who you want, and fill out your roster with players active from 1924-1926 during a pre-season 2 draft....and so on and so on.
So as an example, say you draft ROGERS HORNSBY... you use his 1922 season for season 1...you keep him for season 2 and use his 1924 season
you keep him for season 3 and use his 1929 season....you keep him for season 4 and use his 1931 season...
you decide to cut him before SEASON 5, opening a roster spot on your squad. Unlimited keepers and cuts, manage your team as you see fit......
We will have these seasons to play, one at a time:

1 1921-1923
2 1924-1926
3 1927-1929

Draft Protocols.
While drafts are Off The Clock owners should site mail the next 2 owners after making a selection. Owners should not be skipped while a draft is off the clock.
When drafts are On The Clock owners should not draft before their scheduled time unless there are no missed picks.
A round should not be started before the first scheduled time if any previous round has any missed picks.
This provision is designed to allow owners with skipped picks to have an opportunity between rounds to make up their missed picks
Trading of Draft Picks. Trading of draft picks is not allowed for the inaugural draft. For subsequent drafts picks may only be traded up to 1 season in advance-that is, during the 1924-1926 draft. picks may be traded only for 1924-1926 and 1927-1929.
For clarification, as soon as the 1924-1926 season starts, in season trades may include 1927-1929 draft picks.
Keepers:
The Commissioner will set up a keeper thread in the league private forum after the 120 games mark of each season.
Keeper lists will be due by the end of each regular season; any owner that fails to do so runs the risk of losing his team.
Teams may keep up to 25 players each season plus injured reserve (IR).
Each owner is responsible for keeping track of his IR players and making sure each season's keeper list is correct.
Failure to list a player as a keeper (including a player returning from IR) means that player will be added to the next available player list, and you risk losing the player.
At the end of the regular season, all keeper lists are final, any subsequent roster corrections must be posted directly to the keeper thread in the league forum and site mailed to the Commissioner.
Due to the 3 year nature of the league IR players will be rare. However. in the rare cases where a player in the just concluded season (say 1924-1926) is inactive for the 1924-1926 season but returns for the 1927-1929 season, he may be listed as IR for the 1924-1926 season and restored to the active roster for the 1927-1929 season.
AVAILABLE PLAYERS
Each season the commissioner will post a list of available players for the upcoming draft.
This list will be compiled from the list of all WIS-eligible players in the given season, subtracting out all players listed as keepers.
The available player list will be published very shortly after all keeper lists have been posted.
Since the draft will not start until after the conclusion of the regular season, owners will usually be given least 3 days in which to verify that the available player list is correct.
The available players list is considered final once the draft starts – even if it contains mistakes.
IT IS EACH OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT NONE OF HIS KEEPERS ARE LISTED AS AVAILABLE.
In the event that a mistake is made by the commissioner, and a keeper is listed on the available players list, THAT PLAYER WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO BE DRAFTED .
Obviously, owners should help each other police the list – if you see someone listed as an available who looks too good to be true, it is likely that a mistake has been made; please point it out.
However, if someone slips through the cracks and is drafted, the new owner will get to keep the player and the original owner will lose him.
Similarly, if a player who should be eligible for the draft is not listed on the available list, he may not be drafted.
Such a player will be added to the available list for the following season (if still active).

ALL OTHER DRAFTS (After the Inaugural Draft) ARE NORMAL, WORST TO FIRST BY RECORD ( 50 WIN MINIMUM BY GAME 150 TO AVOID A TOTAL TANK JOB)..

AS AN ADDITIONAL PRECAUTION AGAINST TANKING there will be a random lottery for the first 4 positions in the first round only, with the team with the worst record having 4 chances for the #1 pick, the team with the second worst record having 3 chances for the #1 pick, the team with the third worst record having 2 chances for the #1 pick and the team with the 4th worst record having 1 chance for the #1 pick. If a team fails to meet the 50 win requirement by game 150, they will automatically draft no higher than 3rd, regardless of the results of the lottery.

As noted above, 10 of the rostered players for 1921-1923 retired after the 1921-1923 seasons. Your first task as a new owner would be to decide how many (and which) of the remaining 15 players to keep, and to post a keeper list. There are 226 rookies in the 1924-1926 class, and players not drafted in the 1921-1923 draft who are still active as well as as all players cut by all 16 teams will also be available. The rookie list includes Lou Gehrig, Mel Ott, Al Simmons, Paul Waner, Charlie Gehringer, Joe Cronin, Bill Terry, Kiki Cuyler and Micky Cochrane as well Pitchers Lefty Grove, Red Ruffing, Ted Lyons, Freddie Fitzsimmons, Red Lucas and Guy Bush. (There are obviously more outstanding hitters than pitchers in this rookie class).

Depending on the final standings, it appears that the Reds will be drafting in the range of 8th to 12th in the 1924-1926 draft so the new owner should be able to get one of the outstanding players listed above.

One of the nice features of the league is that with the rapid turnover and large number of available players, losing teams can be rebuilt quite rapidly.

I do request that anyone signing up should realize this is a progressive league and I ask that you not join unless you anticipate being able to remain in the league for at least 3-5 seasons.

I will be happy to try to answer any question, either via this forum or by site mail.

As noted above, 6 of the rostered players for 1921-1923 retired after the 1921-1923 seasons. Your first task as a new owner would be to decide how many (and which) of the remaining 19 players to keep, and to post a keeper list. There are 226 rookies in the 1924-1926 class, and players not drafted in the 1921-1923 draft who are still active as well as as all players cut by all 16 teams will also be available. (There are obviously more outstanding hitters than pitchers in this rookie class). With 20 games left the Pirates are 75-67 and will probably be drafting 10th or 11th, so they will definitely be able to get one of the outstanding players mentioned above. There will be many other good rookies available (226 total rookies are available).

I will take the Pirates if they are still available
