newbie question on SBs Topic

How do a player's actual stats influence stolen bases? Does the algorithm take into account speed rating, SB %, and/or number of attempts? Thanks!

When I look at SB, there are 3 things I look at. SB, SB/SBA (SB%), and SB/100SBO (SB/100 stolen base opportunities) - the most important to me being SB%. If I am drafting someone for their SB, I will only draft someone who has a minimum .75% success rate. I've got a SB team that has 9 games left, and I am about to set the record for SB in a season by team and individual.

Takes into account SB%, # of attempts per opportunity, and owner settings. Also impacted by opponents catcher arm (CS %).

Best recent advice I've heard and will soon apply in a new league is always slow down your speed burners v A catcher arms. A recent team had 2 guys irl total 100 SB at 80% success, but weren't as successful in SIM play. I went back thru every box score, and would've done much better minus top throwing arms.

Just finished a League where Billy Hamilton stole 140 bases in 206 attempts. Was it worth it? I thought so as he was the best part of my offense. 358/468/462. First in avg, obp, second in slugging.

The converse of that also applies. I remember once having a part-time player (1984 Jeff Stone) who was great at stealing bases. I basically inserted him into the lineup for series against the league's worst catchers, and let him rest otherwise. Worked like a charm. Stone's real-life numbers were 199 PA/162, 27 SB, 5 CS. I made a note that he had 37 SB, 3 CS in games against the weakest catchers in my division, and 58 SB, 52 runs overall in 234 PA.
