Looking at a 1-for-1 trade of starting pitchers...

Player A is age 26, current rating 77, projected 79. But, his ability vs LHB is 54, righties 68.
Player B is 32, current and overall are 74, vs LHB is 75 and RHB 73.

My overall staff is weak vs LHB. Player B makes considerably more, but not a deal-breaking amount.

Which starter would you rather have?

Player A's split are high enough for me. But there is not enough information to make a call on this. A lot also depends on control, GB/FB, and pitch ratings.

didn't want to inundate people with too many details, but you offered a key piece of advice, sort of a "satisfactory threshold" in the splits....thanks!

Other thoughts from people?

Player B.

With player A I'd say he has reached his max ratings regardless of what advanced scouting says he will do. He may get a point or two but 68 is not high enough for VsR and 54 is dreadful for VsL (though its serviceable if the VsR is very high 70's or higher). Player B is already better but for me the next factor is control and pitches. I'd need player B to have control over 60 (preferably over 80) and the first pitch to be over 75 with the second pitch over 60 to be on my squad.


Edit: If this is your first season be mindful of trades. There is a lot to learn in this game and a lot of owners looking to take advantage of a N00b owner.

Pitches and control being equal.....I would rather have B. A's splits are fine if the control and pitches are high enough. Here is a guy with similar splits to A. Can't make a determination without knowing at least their control ratings. But a dude with a 77 overall rating despite those middling splits is probably going to be pretty good.
