Unless Markey called for government intervention in censorship, I don't see how you could call it authoritarian.

Who gets to decide what is "harmful", Ed? "Independent" fact checkers?

I don't see a major problem with Markey's comment. Unless he proposes legislation to intervene in the process, the right thing to do is to let the social media platforms regulate what is on their service.

You can criticize their application of TOS, of course, and both sides are doing that. How is what Markey said authoritarian?

Also, the idea of criticizing fact-checking as always partisan contributes far more to authoritarianism than anything Markey could say.

Facebook banned thousands of Biden ads (no refunds!) in the last week of the election but naturally allowed Trump ads to flow free, citing “technical difficulties.”

Censorship totally sucks. IF you make comments against minorities, or gays or etc, you will be set on my most people who are against that stuff anyhow. Big government is into total control and an arm of that is in so media. In case nobody has noticed, our freedoms have been eroded big time in the past ten months, with a paper tiger virus as the 'engine' It is believed by many that we should avoid assembling in groups of 6-7 or more and that we should all wear masks. Can anybody see something wrong with this picture??

Didn't think so.. but we are being turned into robots.. and the whole scam is a joy killer, and I will bet that drug abuse and suicides are up due to increased depression and isolation. I refuse to buy the bag of crap and many love to throw mud at me for that. but that is how I see it... and I was a teenager when micro chips were what you found left in the bag.. only girls wore earrings and even then, just two. Hardware was a box of nuts and bolts, and girls didn't have tattoos. and we were a lot happier on the average. Music was about Love and Marriage, an nowadays it is death and violence.. anyhow change has come and not much for the better.. unless you need dental work.
