I'm not a socialist because I do think that you can critique its applicability, but god damn just saying "socialism bad because USSR" is the definition of a thought-terminating cliche. You would have to outline specific policies put in place by the USSR and how it relates to modern-day socialists. I agree that Stalin was evil (obviously), but so do most socialists today.

This won't work because I bet guitarguy is one of those dumbasses who thinks that Nazi Germany was socialist because the party had "socialist" in the name.

Socialism kills the goose that lays the golden eggs. It is the twin of Marxism, which does the same thing. I have this in B.C. where I live. Government seeks to regulate an regulate and pass more laws and they have no sense of the consequences. In 1971 and before BC had about 2.5 to 3 % out of work.. The NDP got in in 72 and in less than a year here is what happened: Unemployment over OVER 8% Construction at a standstill.. ( and in Vancouver there are more cranes working than in the rest of the nation put together.. been that way since 1983), the MINING Industry was on it's death bed.. Forestry slowed to a crawl.. and why??? Well the government passed a bunch of new laws.. and then they decided to add some taxes to the Mining sector. Stumpage rates to forestry, and logging came to a 20% pace of 2 years earlier.. Sales tax went from 5 to 7% and the annoying part is, that tax is pi$$ed away on government programs that don't work.

So we got rid of them 3 years into their run.. Things started to turn around. How smart are we???? Well we elected the NDP again in the late 80's and TODAY we don't even have a conservative platform in B.C. and for good reason.... they call us the Leftist Coast. I hate what they have done to us... and if you think we are better off for them, then you weren't here in 1964 to 74.. when men worked and could keep most of what they earned.. and today they pass new levies on all sorts o thing and simply say, 'We are doing this to save the environment' and the 'I cannot think for myself' crowd buys it up and eats it like candy

SUCKERS.. we are

but I will agree that National Socialist is not socialism, but was Nazism.. and it was evil.. Auschwitz is it's icon.

Capitalism, Mister .. is what builds people, and builds families, and BUILDS nations, MAKES history. Socialism has never lifted a country out of poverty. With all respect, you sound like one of the crowd that works on so' media to overthrow capitalism, and I am also convinced that every social website in the country has people who are set on doing this. They are working for the enemy. . and this enemy hates that we are still a free people.. almost.. refuse to wear a mask and notice all the dirty looks you get. People are SCARED, and Chicken Little is have a big laugh

Under capitalism, the people own the resources. Under communism (your actual gig) the state owns and controls everything and every body. Russia for eg is unable to compete with Canada and the US to produce goods and services, and eg is Oil. So what do they do? They seek to undermine our economy by stirring up well trained protestors, and etc.. because they have never invented a thing in their whole miserable lives.. and they are JEALOUS of us.. You see when the government runs a show, there is NO incentive to produce.. to achieve... but you already know this.. I truly believe it is ordained by the devil himself..

But hey, go for it. Make it illegal to own your own home. Make it illegal to invest in stocks and bonds and Real Estate.. because after all, you could .. over time, end up wealthy and more or less independent..and you wouldn't need to rely on Big Government for their handouts.

Capitalism aint perfect but it sure beats the hell out of anything else. If you disagree, then fine, but if you came back with hateful comments, then you prove my point and have identified who you really are.

It's kind of strange to me, because it seems that people have completely different definitions of what socialism is depending on how much American propaganda has affected them. Most Americans have been taught to hate socialism without understanding what it actually is. I think you can critique socialism effectively, but from my understanding most of what you just said would be talking past a socialist's arguments.

Also, you don't think it's a bit ironic that the fascist who just advocated for the government power to arrest """""rioters""""" on sight is now complaining about government control?

No worries. Our Canuck friend is nearly certain to contact the Covid scourge. At his age it will be a hard lesson.

Yesterday I met a man who just lost his 54 year old wife ( the Mother of his children) to Covid. She had NO underlying or complicating health issues.
Was as healthy (or more so) than I am.
She now dead. From Covid - 19.

So are over 200 K others in MY Country alone.
Many children are NOW Motherless children.

ALL because of the selfish ideas of "freedom" by some "folks" of little intelligence.

Karma is a ***** and the Republican Party is accruing HUGE amounts of Karma.
When Trump is dragged (kicking and screaming) out of OUR HOUSE, the Republican Party of our Country faces some serious "debate" about who the Republican Party really is. An old white racist Party? or a Party based on REAL Conservative principles that appeal to ALL peoples.

You know, freedom does go both ways. Because of dumbfucks like lostnfound (thank God he's not in my country) I don't have the freedom to go about my business and interact with others without putting myself or my community in danger. We have restricted economic freedom because of the continuing damage of the pandemic on the economy.

I'm willing to do whatever it takes to just get the virus away and move on. Look at other countries who had responsible leaders and got it under control early. They're outside attending concerts, sporting events, partying, etc. without risk of ******* dying.
