Position Player Fatigue in Rookie League Topic

Position players fatigue much slower in Rookie League than at the other levels of the organization. I'd noticed this before anecdotally, but last season I tried an (admittedly uncontrolled) experiment.

This low-DUR catcher caught every single inning of every game in Rookie League last year, and only got down to 95% by the end of the season; at 30 DUR he would have been lying comatose on the floor of the dugout at any other level.

Just an observation to share in case it helps anyone else.

Rookie League schedules are 76 games with, I think six off days. Generally with a maximum of 12 or 13 games in between off days.

All other minor leagues are 144 games with I think nine off days. Minimum of 12 or 13 games in between.

Yeah, I've never seen any of my Rookie league position players drop below 100%. I figured the schedule is why. You'd figure a 40 DUR guy would get tired but maybe that's the outside range of plausibility.

I have a 14 DUR catcher on one of my Rookie teams right now, but he's the LH side of a platoon. Still 100% after 100 ABs.

Move your 30 dur catcher up to Low A next season. Start him the first 76 games and see where his fatigue level is at. That would test your theory.

I have a team that's 87 games in... my Lo-A SS with 64 DUR, who did not play at all in Spring Training, has played all 87 and is at 85%. Surely he was lower than or close to 95% 11 games ago, and his DUR is 64 against my guy's 30. That convince you?

Regular minors-- 144 with 8 regular off days and the 3 for the All-Star break. A day off every 14.1 days.
Rookie-- 76 with 6 off, plays through the All-Star break. A day off every 13.7 days. Not that different.

If you were really inspired, couldn't you look at his game log on the player card and figure out exactly where he was 11 games ago in terms of fatigue?

1) D'oh-- I'm an idiot. Thanks for the suggestion.
2) He was at 89%.
