Hi all - I feel like I've read this before, but couldn't find it in my search....if I promote a prospect for the MLB playoffs and then demote him back to the minors after the playoffs are over, will he get a demotion penalty? I thought I read that if he's just promoted for the playoffs and then demoted, he won't get a penalty. Thanks!

He won't suffer a penalty if you demote him during the World Series. I think. Someone else can confirm that.

I cannot attest to it with experience, but most folks on this board write that you can demote MLB players to the minor leagues with no demotion penalty once the MLB playoffs start. I have only called up a minor league player to play in the MLB playoffs one time and, after I lost in the MLB ALCS, I was so concerned that he would get a ratings hit due to the demotion that I kept him on the MLB roster through the roll and he started the next season making $343,000. I immediately demoted him to AAA the next season. However, I called him up 20 games into the new season. The only difference was about $50,000.
