it doesn't exactly end before the CT and NT/PT - but if you are on the right side of the line (no complaints) going into the CT/NT, you are 100% safe to bench. the post season can help save your behind when you are behind on promises, however - hence it not really being 'over'.
the case i'm not certain of is when you have had 1 complaint, and a subsequent all clear message. at this point, are you safe to ignore the CT? with all the changes to promises over the years, its hard to say (it was hard before that too!). the way i would play it is, play it safe for the first 2-3 games of the CT (the final message used to come at that point, i feel like it still would? - i forget whether its exactly 2 or 3 days, it doesn't vary though, there is an exact time for that final message). then go ahead and take the guy out for the NT.
some folks speculate the above is not needed - but if it is rare for you to get a complaint in the first place, as it is for most folks, i don't think you give up much playing the CT safe, unless you (1) already know better for sure or (2) are trying to nail down the edge cases around promises.
