Anybody watch the Houston vs. Oregon State game? Topic

Oregon St. was playing Houston man to man and Houston was up 15 points in the second half. Half way through the second half, the Oregon State coach changed the defense to a 2-3 zone and it was like a completely different game. Houston was confused and didn't know how to attack it. Oregon State almost came back to win.

Made me think what it would be like if we had that type of flexibility in WIS. Being able to make adjustments at halftime with any defense you wanted to play.

Well, technically, we do have flexibility, more than a lot of people realize. I run a combo defense, and that kind of flexibility is part of it. Obviously the man/zone combo isn’t a thing in HD, but theoretically one can practice both sets, and set the gameplan to change when losing or winning (so last 6 minutes, by any margin). Most folks don’t find much value in that, but that doesn’t mean it can’t, or necessarily shouldn’t, be done.
