So, I've always heard that players will return if their cumulative GPA is 2.7 or more. And I've never seen otherwise. Well as Rupp came to an end last night, I had a 3.2 gpa 5th/Sr leave due to lack of playing time. Never heard of that one.

So obviously it's possible, but how common is that? What's the cutoff? I didn't receive any emails like we do with freshmen. Any ideas on a minutes threshold?

Is that Blum? So he has changed from listed as Sr to Sr/5 now after notifying you that he won’t be back? I’ve never seen that, post 3.0 rollout anyway. Maybe a CS ticket can clarify if this is a new thing, or reversion to an old thing, or a thing that’s always been there, but just very rare.

well, i think the GPA thing is just for the jucos leaving due to grades thing. there is still always that very small chance of upperclassmen leaving due to not enough playing time, that impacts seniors with 1 year left like any other upperclassmen. however, i thought they absolutely had to complain... for them to leave. and 14.8mpg sounds like plenty to me. are you 100% there was never a message from him this season? i wonder if the message is withheld due to him being a senior or something dumb. i am kinda genuinely surprised he left though at 14.8.

I think this happens rarely - and agree that those minutes make it surprising

Going way back when this stuff was more discussed, I believe we were told that every player has his own built in tendencies about this. No doubt affected by grades and minutes. I can only say that he must have had extreme tendencies

Yes that's correct as you stated it.

Yes I'm certain no messages. He never even had ONE game below 10 minutes played all season. Kinda odd but oh well.... I could use the resources now!

I still hope you send a ticket, if you haven’t yet. It would be good for us all to know if this is something that’s been changed, or something that’s been here all along, but so rare, no one has noticed it.

They fixed something else about a DNQ player’s senior season maybe a year or two ago, where they used to never (in 3.0) declare early for the draft no matter where they were on the big board, they would always stay for their final season, if they made it to the SR (3rd eligibility) year. I wonder if that change reactivated something with this particular subset of players, where they not only can declare for the draft early, but they may also leave due to lack of playing time, as occasionally used to happen before 3.0 as well. But maybe this reactivation came without reintroducing the warning emails, because it was unintended?
