For some reason, I sorted all the pitchers in the sim with at least 9.0 IP/G and was rather impressed to find that 1942 Ted Lyons is the only guy since 1906 with at least 10 starts who completed every game he pitched. 20 starts, all complete.

Ted was 41 years old. Wow!

And then he joined the Marines and served until 1945.

He returned in 1946 and threw 5 more complete games at age 45 before being named manager mid-season. Finished his career with 28 straight complete games from 1941-46.

Kind of a forgotten player, despite being in the Hall of Fame. He's one of those guys you rarely see used in OLs or even theme leagues, but in a prog he's great. I had him in one, he won exactly 300 games for me, including three Cy Young seasons where he went 36-9, 34-3 and 30-13 (went 30-10 in another season, too).

And just for some perspective on the 28 straight complete games at the end of his career, the leader for career CGs among active pitchers is Justin Verlander...with 26.

Believe It or Don't!

I do believe it! And I'm going to look for a way to use this season sometime soon.
