Greetings,

Curious how you specify your relievers. Do you let the robot decide who pitches what inning, relying on your designation for long relievers, set-up men, and closers...or do you specify not to use Pitcher A before the 4th, Pitcher B before the 6th, and such?

I'm surprised how often I pick up a pitcher from the scrap heap and his player settings specify certain innings. But I've also read that a lot of owners don't specify a closer, in part because it's not like the pitchers in this game have emotions and rely on knowing their role ahead of time.

Thoughts?

All pitchers at all levels are set to any for me. Don't use closers.

I divide them in to two categories. Those that are elite get a setup A, those that are below that get setup B. Available any inning

Also, I base my Setup A and B guys based on their performance (ERA, mostly).

So the consensus is "any inning", which I do as well. Just surprising how many free agent pitchers I pick up who have specs for which inning they can enter, like 4th or 6th.

All my setup guys A & B are set for 6th inning. Closer 9th, if I have have a designated closer, LR any and mop-up varies. Pretty basic.

No closer here. I typically have either 2-3 go to setup A guys who I set at 6th inning and everyone else gets "any"
