1975 Jubilee Progressive (Full...hopefully) Topic

Jubilee Progressive

The Jubilee progressive is based on the concept that every 7 years, in times gone by, slaves were freed, debts forgiven and property restored. That final point is the concept the Jubilee Revisited Progressive League (JRPL) is based. League owners have the player rights to their chosen franchise returned to them every seven seasons. During the six seasons between, via rookie draft and trades, owners try to improve their franchise beyond what their MLB counterparts were able to field and best that MLB Won/Loss Percentage. That is a personally satisfying (or discouraging) unique challenge to the league. The other challenge is much more traditional....make the playoffs, win the World Series.

We’re finishing up our 1974 season, heading into the jubilee year of 1975, and we will need 1 new owner. This is a great time to join the league, because you’ll get to start with a clean slate of the actual roster of whichever team you choose. There are 7 franchises to choose from, listed below. NOW FULL - HOPEFULLY. ONE OWNER HAS NOT CONFIRMED THEIR RETURN.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you are interested in one of these franchises.

Thanks, fatguy! Makes total sense to me! I'm just now taking over running this league, but as soon as I'm able, I'll add you to the private forum so you can get all the details on the league.

So this is a straight progressive league? How does thedraft work
7/6/2021 3:21 PM
Except for the jubilee every seven seasons, when the rosters revert to real-life rosters, it is a pretty normal progressive. The only draft in 1975 is for those teams who don’t have 25 keepers in the WIS system. Other seasons, the draft order is determined by the worst-to-best records of the real-life teams. League records have no bearing on draft order.

What about the players on the teams not taken ?
7/7/2021 11:17 AM
They will not be in the league for 1975, but will be part of the free agent pool in 1976, which will help the worst teams recover more quickly.
7/7/2021 1:45 PM
One of the cool things about this league is that you get to play with a lot of your favorite franchise's big name players. I just finished up a stretch with the Tigers with Al Kaline, Norm Cash, Bill Freehan, Mickey Lolich, and several other big name guys. Pick your team out of the six remaining, and join us!
