It was nice when we were seeing monthly updates earlier this year. That showed promise, but nothing much since then. I could be wrong, but something simple -- like adding a "withdraw and return button" to the coach negotiation screen -- could be something that could keep people around. Incremental changes similar to game patches we see in video games would be nice. I know some folks were not happy with some of the updates, but I think those folks were a minority. I liked it much better when there were updates every third or fourth Thursday of the month. Even if it's every 6 to 8 weeks, that would be better than hearing nothing for three months.

Also, if there is a re-write coming, maybe we have some engagement there as well.

I guess where im going with this is:

1. If the HBD re-write is over a year away, why not continue doing periodic quality of life updates like the ones mentioned. This could keep customers around and excited;

2. If the HBD re-write is around the corner, why not engage veteran players of HBD to be sure that, a. the new re-write does not alienate the current customer; b. the new re-write is a fun, engaging and exciting process that can leave current hbd players constantly anticipating its implementation.

I agree, it was really nice having the periodic updates. That's why I was kind of thrown off by the League of Legends thread. Seems like a huge undertaking when there's far more important updates out there imo.

My two cents, I'm guessing a rewrite wouldn't be that simple. My suspicion is what whoever's driving the car got a look under the hood and there's a whole lot of WTAF going on because the "program" and the "code" are pretty antiquated. It's probably a bit of a workaround even to try to... there's probably no simple "refresh" is what I'm thinking. If there's a rewrite coming, I feel like it might have to be a complete rewrite, in which case it might be a bigger job than the new team anticipated.

I just want WIS Product Management that they are horrible at their Job and should be ashamed - I'm in the Dev business and i know what it takes to rewrite an App - if you ever need help let me know - but you probably won't contact me since i've called you out on your incompetance - No more 24 bucks a season from me because your App is stale - Good luck

Sadly another long time owner has finally had enough. I've played around the same length of time as jw and I'm just finishing up the seasons I've already purchased before I too leave. In any game there is a natural attrition with people coming and going. The game went a long time without any change as there was a one man crew left to keep things running as the game changed hands a few times. When the game was purchased there was renewed hope for changes with each new owner but that never materialized and it seemed as though they had no real idea of what to do with the game and/or how to grow the customer base. The concept is a good one but the hey days of the early 2000's are long gone, as many good people and team owners have fallen by the wayside.

When new personnel joined the admin team we again hoped that development would begin again. Unfortunately, communication is not a strength of the people working on the game at the moment. The vague updates and messages about upcoming plans are only latched onto by the uninitiated amongst us. Things have been changed that were not explained and the changes they did explain created unforseen repercussions. If these issues had been illuminated and exposed it would have been one thing but that hasn't been the case. The hope that a larger team could provide improvements and more frequent updates were short lived as one of the new team left for a so-called dream job. It was very nice as he was spoken of kindly and wished well, however there was no mention of the fact that this left admin down a person and would hamper the plans previously mentioned.

While the new team is not responsible for what happened before they arrived, they soon fell into the same pattern and the transparency promised was never fullfilled. So while the departure of jw or myself are only a couple of customers leaving, people like us have spent a lot of money playing and would have brought more income to the game in future. Sadly our society no longer values loyal customers, they foolishly believe the supply of people willing to purchase their product is endless. Don't believe this too be true? Then how would you explain a game with an increasing amount of problems trying to roll out a new game without having fixed the original game and offering this new game at twice the cost. However maybe they are right in this case. I saw several pages of people willing to contribute their money for a more expensive game without knowing if it was any different then the flawed predecessor.

So to conclude, I wish all well. Those that leave I wish all the best to, and for those that stay I hope that eventually admin will wake up and address the problems of the game to make it a better product as they fix the issues we have long complained about and the newly created flaws that have been recently added.

A consistent message would nice. In the "correcting minor league problems" thread it reads that the game was built on the premise of building a franchise and true dynasty. Then a promotion is offered that caters to high player payroll World jumpers.

Obviously, I enjoy the game as it is. If I didn't, I would not be running nine teams. However, I totally understand the perspectives shared above. While I don't think the game is broken, there have been many suggestions on how to improve it. As stated above, it was nice when there were monthly updates or, at least, a communication each month about what was being worked on.

Also, the correcting minor leage problems thread was posted on July 7. It's been 3 months. No update, no further communications on it. If this was the big update that was going to save WIS all of this time and resources so that they could work on other things, where is it? Also, what about the park factor updates? Are those still coming in November? Even if they are not coming, it would be nice to know that. Finally, the last State of the Union update was in early August. It read that more info would be communicated in the coming weeks. It's now mid-october.

In my opinion it is an attempt to gage the price point of the game. Their looking to increase revenue and are trying to determine if there is enough interest to sustain the site with a dramatic price increase. Doubling the price seems a bit ambitious but once that price point is established they can then come in with a new game cost in between the $50/season of the league of legends and the current $25/season cost. It's basically what the oil companies did at the gas pumps in the U.S.

I'm sorry to read that a long time HBD user is hanging it up. To some of the points in this thread... currently the two developers are working to add tweaks to the current game, as well as begin the daunting task of rewriting the base coding used for future rewrites of the games. It's not as easy as some have implied. There have been multiple developers over the years in WIS and each one was different and some had training, while others did not. It's not as easy as copy/paste as some seem to indicate. The League of Legends is an idea we're throwing around to try to spice things up.

Monthly updates was something that was stated wouldn't be permanent, that is just too much of a time constraint between all of the games. The plan is to do around quarterly updates and I am here to assure you all, we haven't just left the "lights on" with things and there are updates and changes currently being worked on throughout WIS.

I am probably following too closely on the forums and even tuning into Majique's Gridiron Dynasty Podcast despite not being a gridiron dynasty player. I keep hearing and/or reading about upcoming changes.

Can you share any of the changes that are upcoming and when we can expect the quarterly update to hit? Not looking for an exact date, but even a two week gap of time would be nice to know. The last update we received was in early August and it read the below, but it didn't specify when. It read that new game re-writes would be starting in December of this year. I assume that has been pushed back. And if that has been pushed back, does this mean that maybe the below updates hit in December 2021 or earlier?
  1. Injury Updates (Fixes transparency between budget allocation and injury prevention)
  2. AI auto-sign ml (AI auto signs depleted rosters, assigns penalty for empty rosters, performance bonuses for ml playoffs)
  3. Park Updates (updating parks/factors, introducing ability to choose parks on franchise selection)
  4. New awards/accolades for coaches

A lot of the HBD features coming out here soon are "make life easier" tools. Allowing user's to change their own team name and a couple of consistent roster glitch issues. The injury updates is currently being worked on and park updates is one of the next up to be developed. Still no time frame as we're trying to get some other tests done for some of the updates coming out for other games (ie GD DIA playoff format).

It's a little weird to me that people are leaving now that changes are coming, maybe slower than expected, after a decade+ of basically nothing,

Personally I think the price point now is a little high but high enough to keep most players who won't take it seriously out. Double it and I'm out.

Apart from that my most likely reason to leave is that 70 seasons in, I'm still not all that good at this.

I don’t know but for some reason I still love this game. After 100+ seasons and ten years, I still learn new things all the time. I can’t imagine that happening for any other hobby. The price point is fine with all of the bonuses, and the large majority of players are chill and easy to play with. Don’t change too much!

Also, the price point can be reduced by purchasing the 10-pack of seasons and applying whatever small earnings you get from how well you do during your seasons. If you are buying season to season, you are doing it wrong.
