Something I have wondered now two attempts into 80M OL is who the best hitting pitchers are in the SIM.

I'm wondering if there is some old thread I can find or if someone has some insight? My guess is they do exist but it would be hard to afford them in an 80M Cap?

1915-17 Ruth
1886 Bob Caruthers (used to be a serious OL cookie)
1971 Catfish Hunter
1965 Drysdale

There are many others...I think 1925 Walter Johnson comes to mind...

in the search you can sort by pitchers BA, OBP and SLG

back in the day, I used to build OL teams featuring pitchers who hit like DHs, yet posted mound stats that would keep the team competitive. This was before dymanic pricing, but recall using the following guys with some success:

1930 Ruffing (Yankee version)
1935 Wes Ferrell
1925 Big Train (as mentioned by contrarian)
1915 Babe Ruth
'49 Bob Lemon
1955 Don Newcombe

In terms of normalized HR/100, several of the best seasons are from early pitchers.
