I have 3 scholarship offers out and only 2 available in Phase 1. Looks like I have all 3 ready to sign. Do I have to pull the offer to one or could I possibly "slow him down" but not lose him if I indicate that i plan to redshirt him? I have one ace that I don't want to lose and a couple of potential exits in Phase 2 that would free up another scholly.

Thanks

If you've above moderate (high or very high), then they'll sign even if you inform of redshirt. The first 2 recruits to sign will take up your scholarships until you can free up a scholarship in the 2nd session (either EE or cutting a player). If you really need to guarantee that a certain player signs, then you'll need to withdraw your scholarship offer from one of the other 2.

In the future, just know that you can get to Very High without offering a scholarship. Then you can kinda hold that player until the 2nd session without worrying about them signing. Either that or target two recruits who want to sign in RS1 and then try your best to build up a lead on a player that wants to sign late. That way you'll have a security blanket in case you get a player that leaves for NBA.

Hopefully that makes sense.

One thing to add here.... removing a scholarship once it's offered has a negative impact. And you can lose that recruit entirely in most cases once the ship is removed.

You can still keep that recruit on a leash, by adding some positive effort on the same cycle you withdraw the scholarship. So for example you could remove ship and offer 4 HV all in one cycle. Or you could remove the ship and offer a starting spot in the same cycle. Or a variety of combinations. But doing it this way will still allow you to stay in the running for the recruit. So if he's your 3rd of the 3 options, you can wait out the first two players to see if they sign. You can offer the scholarship back to the player any time you please if you do it this way.

Hey Dogg, you say 4 HV in the same cycle as removing the scholarship... is that a good rule to go by? Is 1, 2 or 3 usually not enough? Do you ever go more than 4? What about promising the start--is that enough on its own, so no need for HV/CV? How about promised minutes?
I've never done this before so I'm curious how you or others gauge how much to offer on the cycle the scholarship is pulled, since the idea would be to spend as little as possible. Also, do you know if prior effort (attention points/HV/CV) factors into how much you have to spend on the cycle you pull the scholarship?
I'm a D3 coach, so I wonder if the rules are different for D3 vs D1 too...

I've always done 5 HV when it's visits I use. And I've always done start and 20 min when only using promises.

I'm batting 1.000 and I intend to stay that way. I'm sure you could tinker and drop lower. And maybe I do WAY too much effort and not as much as needed. But i don't really wanna be a Guinea pig and screw up on a much needed recruit. So that's what i have used when needed
