The free agent loyalty bonus used in tie-breakers.... Anyone know how much it is?

Are you talking about cash? Never heard about that. I know with pitchers, tiebreaker comes down to pitching and bullpen coaches. Not sure about hitters, but would guess at least hitting coach.

Talking about the loyalty bonus. I know about coaches, etc

Gorshar and I were discussing this earlier. The FAQ reads that there are three factors that the sim considers when deciding on where an FA will sign -- hitting coach IQ/Fielding Coach IQ for position players; stadium; and a loyalty bonus (not the loyalty rating of the coach, a bonus to the team where the player played the previous season).

Hmmm. I guess that would mean how successful the team is (contender or not), but not really sure.

If the FAQ is to be believed, the order is loyalty, coaches, then ballpark. I'm in a tiebreaker situation on a max contract for a 93 OR position player and not leading. Of the franchises who have at least $30m available in salary, none have a coach combo better than mine. I have 91 hitting and 92 fielding. The player's previous franchise has at least $30m to spend so I assume the loyalty bonus is kicking in as his coaches are 83 hitting and 81 fielding. If it's coming into play his ballpark rates better for a hitter (Salem v Santa Fe), but I'm working under the assumption the FAQ is correct that the ballpark is only an issue if the coaches ratings are tied. So I'm guessing the loyalty bonus is giving him at least an edge >18 on the coaches. 20 maybe?

Yeah, on a max contract, the previous club gets their guy. If the previous club isn't in play then it's coaches.

But at least they sign sooner in FA if I remember correctly. so you don't miss out on other FA's.

I'm as certain as I am of anything that if multiple max contracts are on the table and the previous club is bidding they win out. I've acted on it; I've offered max and on the very first cycle been told it's not enough which I took to mean that the previous club obviously wanted to retain the player.

The previous club has to have a certain amount of service time with said player (I think 4 years or more) or they do not receive loyalty bonus.

It’s not all coaches I just missed out on a player who should’ve signed based on coaches… he’s a SP my P/BU Coaches are 95/87 and the team he signed with they are 90/85…. He has no previous time on that team so how did he end up with that team over mine?

Were the terms the same? For instance, if two teams offer full max money but only one offers a NTC, the player will take the one with the NTC regardless of coaches.

I will have to find the Dev chat for the Loyalty Bonus, but its only applies to the original team if the player was on the team for 5 season. But everything else has to be the same in regards to the contract. If the contracts are not the same the loyalty bonus does not apply. Here is the Dev chat on the other tiebreakers & jverrier is correct it wont go to the tie breakers if the contracts are not exactly the same, if the other team added a NTC they win.

From the 11/9/2009 Dev Chat.

"There were tiebreakers previously, the last one we used was time the offer was presented, which obviously didn't cut it. We added two additional tie breakers. The first is the relevant IQs of the coaching staff. Position players will always look at the hitting IQ of the hitting coach and the fielding IQ of the fielding coach. Pitchers will always look at the Pitching IQ of the pitching coach and the bullpen coach. The second tiebreak is ballpark. Pitchers will always want to pitch in a pitchers park and position players will always want to play in a hitters park."

This may not apply here since it was for coaches, but I had a FI sign with another team for $350K less than my offer. The team was his previous team. When I reached out to CS because they offered less and signed him, they said it was due to the loyalty to the other team. In this case it actually meant they didn't have to offer what I did but come close. How close? Not sure. At least the loyalty bonus there was worth $350K. I'm not sure if it works the same for players as coaches.
