Pick a franchise and pick a season you want to use to build your roster with. The available seasons are split up into five separate groups (in chronological order). There are several choices for the N.L. and A.L. both, in each of the six leagues in this round. Every team in Round Three will be from a specific franchise and made up of five different seasons from their history – one from each of the groups. For example, you may end up in League One and have a Giants team made up of players from 1897, 1919, 1938, 1965 and 2010. From each of these seasons, you MUST roster two pitchers and three position players.
Once all 12 owners in a draft make their choices, the draft order will reverse for their second pick. Each owner will need to draft one season from each group of their franchise to build their roster. Also, it doesn’t matter which group you pick from first – as long as you end up with one season from each of the five groups. The draft will go in the 1-12, 12-1, 1-12, 12-1, 1-12 order).
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
In leagues where there are more than one franchise available (i.e., League 2 A.L., you have the Indians/Naps and the Orioles/Browns franchises), once you pick a season from a franchise, your other four picks must be from that franchise. You can’t make your first pick from Group One of the Indians/Naps and then for your second pick take a season from Group Two of the Orioles/Browns. Once you pick a franchise, all five seasons must come from that franchise. No mixing of franchises.
Building your teams: You must have a minimum of two pitchers and three position players from each of your five seasons.
As an added bonus: We’re going to allow one “Clone” per team. It can be either a pitcher or a position player – but it must come from your franchise and from one of the five seasons that makes up your roster. For example, if you had a Yankees squad and ended up with the 1927 season (Group 1) and the 1934 season (Group 2), you could roster both versions of Lou Gehrig if you wanted to.
League Alignment: Alignment for the N.L. and A.L. in each league will be done chronologically by the “earliest” season used for your roster. In other words, on the N.L. side of League One, if four of the Giants owners select 1893, 1894, 1897 and 1898, then those four owners know that they’ll be the N.L. East in the league.
