It has been over a year since Site Staff announced that some work was going to be done on the game. There have been a few tweaks and updates, but not much in the way of real consequence. Even long-standing bugs like the Recovery mess live on.

So, is there anyone from SHGN/WIS/HBD, etc. that could give us even a peek at what the plans are?

We have been working on quite a few significant gameplay updates and fixes for HBD.

As laid out in our State Of The union in August or main concentrations for HBD were:

Hardball Dynasty
  1. Injury Updates (Fixes transparency between budget allocation and injury prevention)
  2. AI auto-sign ml (AI auto signs depleted rosters, assigns penalty for empty rosters, performance bonuses for ml playoffs)
  3. Park /Park Factor Updates & 4 New Franchise City Options (Tokyo, Seoul, London, Cuba)
  4. New awards/accolades for coaches
As of now, development for tasks 1-3 is complete and are either: pending deployment or still being tested in our QA environment. #4 is mocked out but will be a part of the new core website (this will make sense when rolled out). Because they are all fairly substantial and different (and some require a season notice to the community) they will be staggered in their releases. We will announce release plan in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the replay. A quick question. Why is it the games take so long to sim every cycle? It seems like it's the same time frame as when I first started playing (under a different user name) almost 20 years ago. Is it hardware?
Also, is it possible to reveal the random factor involved in the game?

What does this mean?

I've posted about injury recovery for a while now. I think it's more than a minor issue. However, I also can imagine that it is likely one of the more difficult things to code.

The biggest problem with injuries is that the timing of the injury has an impact on recovery -- and that should not be the case. That absolutely needs to be fixed. And, yes, that issue has been discussed ad nauseam on these message boards.

Beyond that, my thoughts on what's wrong with injuries in this game is absolutely the opposite of what most people gripe about on these boards: Injuries are not nearly as common in this game as they should be, nor are they as severe as they should be. By making injuries mostly rare and mostly minor, HBD is a game that can be won by ignoring depth -- and that's an aspect of this game that I've never liked. Depth should be encouraged and rewarded.

I know I'll always be in the minority when it comes to this, however, so I've pretty much given up on the issue.
I agree. Don't alter the frequency of injury. Fix recovery. I also agree -- injury recovery and how it is broken has been documented ad nauseam. I know this because I have explained it and provided examples on multiple occasions.

Prevention of injury is not the issue. Recovery is the issue.

But what does "fixes transparency" mean?

But what does "fixes transparency" mean?
Not sure what it means either. Maybe it will be a whole new injury system? For example, instead of only having the 7-day, 15-day and 60-day DL, there are other options to where a guy with a 20 day injury can come off the DL in 20 days fully recovered instead of having to choose between -- 1. Put him on the 7 day or 15 day DL and when he comes back, he has no recovery or; 2. Put him on the 60 day DL and after 60 days without his services, he is fully recovered, or possibly gets a tad bit better if he gets a second injury recovery cycle.

Then again, it could just be a guide uodate that explains exactly how your medical budget, training budget and the player's makeup and health rating affect injuries and their recovery thereto. This would not be a fix though.

Even a guide update would be better for new players. I learned a way to play this game by reading these forums, not by the guides. How many things in the guides have you seen people come here to ask for an explanation of? Frankly, there have been times when I have felt like the guides have been so intentionally vague as to be misinformation.

Have some patience it's only been a year and there's math and stuff involved.

How's the development going? I figure it has been about nine months and some of these changes/fixes might have an update?

You should be keeping an eye on this forum for updates:

Drummer is right -- that forum chain usually has the latest updates.

Also, unless something has changed since my last contact with Admin, HBD will have no tweaks/updates until a full rewrite is done sometime in 2023. My guess is that HBD will likely be one of the last re-writes due to its complexity and the fact that even the HBD community can't decide what's best for the future of the game. If I had to guess, I'd say about this time next year.
