Just curious what others do. I almost always set it on none, because my pitching staffs put enough runners on base.

I almost always put it at 2. The default setting of 3 often walks guys in highly questionable situations.

I use 1, and 1 only. Real estate is expensive enough...

In all my seasons, my teams have issued no more than 2. That is only because of a failure to get my settings set in time. I believe the IBB is the worst idea in this SIM. ZERO!

That 2 is a total of all my seasons.

But please, all you all should set it at 5.

Most of the time 0.

0-2 depending on stadium

I always set it at 1 (not sure why not 0, but I don't spend time thinking about those settings anymore). Both my currently active teams have 1 IBB through 147 games (league average is 21, and fatguyrd's team is the only one with zero in this league!).

Again I don’t need to walk people. That team with 0 IW has a team ERA of 6.93. My pitching staff supplies hits instead of IW !

I don't think any team needs to walk people, except maybe in very, very rare occasions. But looking at the IBB column in the team rankings for a league, I don't see any consistent relationship between IBB and wins. I'm kinda surprised by that.

I see the CS as similar to the IBB... an unnecessary gift to the opponent. My settings almost always have me ranked at the bottom of a league in CS, even if it also means 0 SB for the season. But that's another one where I don't see any clear relationship to wins and losses, when looking at the team rankings for a league. Lots of different ways to win or lose, I guess.

100% Zero.

It's even bad strategy to walk the #8 hitter to get to the pitcher. Typically, the #8 hitter is the weakest hitter (non-pitcher) in the lineup. Why give that player a 1.000 OBP? Maybe you get the pitcher to make an out and get out of the inning, but I'd rather take my chances with the #8 hitter and have the luxury of having the pitcher have to lead off the next inning.

I usually set it at 1, but there are certain situations where I go higher. If I'm in a progressive league, and facing a team with 1-2 stud hitters and not much else, I'll jack it up a bit to try and pitch around those stud hitters as much as possible.

I like the idea of an IBB setting, but I would like more control over it. Obviously it would be more complex, but I'd like a setting that somehow allows you to target specific hitters you want to walk, rather than situations. It's like the team SB setting in HBD...if I have 3 really good basestealers on my team, and 6 guys with cement feet, I can't really apply a setting I like to my entire team.

I never played live much, but I would imagine being able to strategically pick where you use IBBs would come in handy.

Fully agree. The high BB guys and Ruth/Bonds get their share anyway...no need to help. 0 or 1
