Wanting to give this league idea a try in the football sim and see how it goes. Hopefully we can get enough owners to go.
This will be a random and twist league.
Each season, starting in 1966 we'll play one season at a time(tried looking at starting sooner but not 24 teams and couldn't come up with an idea I really liked to make it work. Can revisit if enough want to start even sooner though). Once we get 24 owners a random draw will take place for team assignment. Please see below details and let me know if I've forgotten anything or left anything out. We can also always revisit rules as needed before we start or before future seasons.
Salary Cap - $200 Million(or highest it can be set at), so basically no cap. We can revisit later if needed to lower.

Alignment - Top 4 teams(by Winning %) will make up the AFC East, 5-8 will make up the AFC Central on down to the bottom 4 teams will make up the NFC West. Once we get to seasons were there're more than 24 teams the 25th and worst teams in the league that season will not be used. Ties in Winning % will go to Points For.
Random Draw - Will be done by last 2 digits of Owner Rating after games have been played on day of draw. 00-99. Tie-breaker will be 3rd to last lowest digit, the 4th to last lowest digit as needed. Owner with lowest last 2 digits will get the top team.
Rosters - Twist any player that appeared on that teams roster, per Football Reference.com, and use any season they have in the WhatIf database. QB/RB/WR/TE/K/P - pick any player that appeared on the team roster that year and twist him to whatever season you'd like or use that season. DEF/OL/ST - Pick any unit of a player that appeared on the team roster that year and twist it to whatever season you'd like or use that season.
Roster Building/Usage Examples
*We're playing in the 1994 season and you draw the San Francisco 49ers
- RB Rickey Watters - Use any season of his in the database form 1992-2001.
-DEF - DB Deion Sanders - Use any DEF that he played on in his career(89-93 ATL, 94 SF, 95-99 DAL, 00 WAS, 04-05 BAL)
-OL - OL Derrick Deese - Use any OL that he played on in his career(94-03 SF, 04 TB)
-ST - RET Dexter Carter - Use any ST that he played on in his career(90-96 SF, 95 NYJ)
For Special Team twisting to make things more simple I'd like to limit it to Kick/Punt Returners. They must however have had a KR/PR for that team you draw and have made a KR/PR for the team you'd twist to. This might be a little harder to research since some players played positions other than Special Teams in their career but this is how I'd like to start off for now. We can change if needed.
I'd like to have 24 unique owners. However if we struggle to fill I'll allow owners to take a 2nd team. If this is the case I'll figure out a way for those owners have a team in each conference.
