Signed after the PM2 Part 2 cycle following the final spring training game, immediately assigned to the major leagues and lost two ratings points across the board. The customer support page has this note: The timing of the promotion can lead to a ratings decrease. It is based on a lot of factors but the major ones include the coaching staff, playing time availability, his readiness (as stated above), his work ethic, makeup rating, and temper.

My ML pitching coach is rated a 90, so not sure that's it. So any idea what, if anything, could have been done to avoid this? Just have better luck?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but he was a free agent all through spring training. So he was actually losing points during that time he was unattached, and his card was updated when you signed/assigned him.

Not sure if everyone knows this, but veteran (age 27 and over) players who go unsigned during ST can begin to bleed ratings points starting from about the ninth game onward.

Yep

Thanks. That was my suspicion - not that it actually had anything to do with the promotion, just that the regression didn't register until he was assigned, which happened to be classified as a promotion in the system.
