Promoting at end of season Topic

It seems obvious that promoting a player for the next level playoffs if you were going to promote them anyway at the end of the season would be better than waiting for the timing of the 4th game of the World Series. But I would like to verify. Is getting that playoff experience that much more valuable? Does that supersede the advised timing of promotions during the World Series?

Get that experience in. Sometimes they won't get a bump if they don't get at least a little playoff experience. Promote a second time if need be to get the bump recorded.

There's also the possibility that you'd get the bump regardless of promotion because it gets captured in the following season's spring training ratings bump (just a theory though, which is why you should promote during WS in case that theory is wrong).

Thanks brian, what would happen if you promote to the bl to get the bump recorded but then wanted to demote to save the cost for next season? For players not planning on being in the bigs that next season. Would they suffer a demotion penalty?

I understand that there can be a demotion penalty at any time, but I am wondering if such promoted players are considered call-ups and thus might not get a demotion penalty.

If you're sending them from the ML to minors during the ML postseason there's no demotion penalty. BUT, sending a minor leaguer to a lower minors level WILL trigger a demotion penalty.

For a player promoted to the BL ANYTIME after the roster expansion date?

And sent down ANYTIME during the BL post season?

one part of the game I've never understood correctly. I've been burned the 2 times I tried demoting back to minors before season's end, so I always just wait and cost myself 1 or 2 mil...

Thanks, so for future reference, you can promote aaa to the bl at the end of the postseason to get the bump, and then immediately demote them back to save money, and there will be no demotion penalty?

@bruce - anything involving a BL player once the BL postseason starts won't trigger a penalty in my experience.

@cal - yeah, I do that with all my AAA prospects. I've even promoted/demoted a player multiple times because I had changed my mind on where I wanted them to start the and never had a penalty show up on the player card.

I should mention, that I suppose there's always the possibility that a penalty is still happening behind the scenes but the system doesn't record it until the next season's first ratings cycle right after ST is done. I don't know why it would do it this way but I suppose it's possible. I haven't noticed it, though I also haven't paid it real close attention either.
