Commissioners - Draft Pool List Tool Here Topic

Hello commissioners, I know that creating an available player list for progressive drafts can be a pain and time consuming. I created a tool that hopefully can help. Type in the year you want, copy and paste keeper lists and then you get an list of available players for your given year.

Here are the links for the tools in Google sheets:

Pitcher Tool https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1h9gmpY87jqtGRwqQYalzACitUTWHHgqhO8z5DSXCIo4/edit?usp=sharing

Hitter Tool https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OQOQl97kZ1fn1ThqbDrrsJGpHGVJ4v8jjfxgw6ogQyo/edit?usp=sharing

These will only work in Google sheets and not work in Excel since it uses a query function that Excel does not support. For anyone that has not used Google sheets, you will need to be logged into your Google account and make a copy of the sheet to use by going to File -> Make a Copy.

This is also my first attempt at using SQL/Query, also at using any language at all. I would appreciate any feedback from any experienced SQL users.

one thing I would suggest is to trim the PitcherSalaries and HitterSalaries tabs down to the minimum of what you need to generate the draft board. those spreadsheets are massive and were slowing down my computer when I had them open. I think all you need is name, season and position for hitters, will improve processing time of your queries and not hog all the memory on people's computers.

I’d second that

For the pitchers tool; I kept the following tabs:

MasterPlayerID Season LName FName FirstSeason LastSeason BaseSalary Salary

for the hitters tool; I kept the following tabs:

MasterPlayerID Season LName FName Position FirstSeason LastSeason BaseSalary Salary

It's freed up a lot of memory and goes a lot faster when inputting different years. I may also add first season/last season to the main sheet to highlight rookies in a draft.
