11/09 Update: (from jholthus)

Hello everyone,

An update just to let you know where things currently sit. As we indicated we'd hoped to be about done with the core rewrite of the site and unfortunately due to circumstances within SportsHub things haven't gone at quite the rate we'd like. The devs have been asked to devote a lot of their time and pitch in on other things within the company while continuing to work within WIS when possible. We have just hired two new staff members to the SportsHub team which should hopefully allow our two devs to be able to focus more of their time and efforts into whatifsports.

We appreciate all of you and your loyalty and understanding while we try to better this site and product for everyone!

Makes me wonder how far down the food chain we sit. Personally I don't gamble here(SportsHub). I don't know what percentage of the revenue we generate. Once again I feel we belong to an ownership group that has bigger fish to fry...

I hear ya, Doc. I've felt that way almost from the beginning. Maybe the 2 new hirings will help get things back on track.

I don't like being negative, but they must realize that it must be difficult for patrons to support their site if we don't feel that they're supporting it. Many of us have been here 15-20+ years, without a significant update since 2007. How much patience can ownership expect us to have? I have no way of knowing what the numbers are, but that it takes several days if not weeks to fill some leagues, whereas there was a time those same leagues filled in hours, a few days at the longest. Participation must be way down. Those that have vamoosed surely outnumber the recent newbies that have stuck around...git r done.

Can we atleast get the universal DH?

We aren't getting anything new until the software is updated. It's outdated, any repairs or changes are like driving a toaster through a car wash. Seble told me several years ago it was almost impossible just to do a patch of any kind...the core rewrite affects all of the games, not just Sim Baseball. That's gotta get done, then it was stated that they will next focus on the Sim Baseball update.

My feeling is ownership doesn't care much. I doubt WifS is one of their major revenue streams. They get what they get without doing much so why should they care?

I don't disagree, but why buy it if you aren't gonna support it? We went through the same song and dance with Fox...

I wouldn't doubt they sell WIS (or at least try) before we get any kind of upgrade. Very frustrating hearing the "same ol, same ol" time after time without any results. I certainly don't blame any of the employees here, their hands are tied.

I've been cutting down my number of teams. I doubt I will ever play SLB again, and I am losing interest in hBD. Been here since 2001 and all games combined I've played over 100,000 games (not seasons). If they don't care, why should I?

Pretty much ditto except it only took me 2 1/2 years instead of 20. I hadn't played an OL in 2 years so just got a 6-pack of them out of my system and was quickly reminded how boring it is to see K.Marte everywhere as well as the same 1-trick pony copycat cookie cutter owners chasing away newbs. Single season themes that get me excited seem to have gone somewhere to die. I've only recently gotten involved in progs and semi-progs so we'll see how that goes while evaporating existing SLB credits.

HBD is a much better game than SLB but issues there also have me 2nd guessing biggest among them is a 3-month season takes an extra 1+ months to refill orphans while the bean counters figure a good fix is to give them to newbs for free/cheap for a season who turn an already trainwreck team into something worse cuz they don't know what they're doing right away and then are gone perpetuating an already bad situation even worse. Their classifieds beg-a-thons are worse than SLB. So yeah, as my above data shows, it was nice for a minute to find this place but with its issues and post-covid life and activities and former hobbies taking better shape, I too could sooner than later be among the 'Thanks. Next.' contingent. Might be nice to casually hang onto a team or 2 but we'll see.

You could always stick around just to irritate Doug and Lnf ?!
that's only entertaining for a while. I don't even read or respond to Doug's post anymore, and it is too easy to push LnF's buttons!
