Ballpark effects and what matters most in each Topic

I have a much better record on the road than at home. Trying to figure out if I should change my ballpark next season. What fits what type of team best?

I understand I don't want a home run park if I don't have power, but I am more curious about if defense is best in a hitting park versus a defensive park, or if I have a pitching park, do I need to focus on ace pitchers, or focus on hitters thinking the park may help a weaker pitching staff, etc.

Seemed like an interesting topic for opinions!

I had a team in Colorado a few years ago, and found that my players got fatigued a lot faster. So if you want to fatigue your players less, choose a pitchers park. However, I have had a team in Tacoma for many seasons (Tacoma used to be -4 -4 -4 -4 -4), and still found that my legit power hitters were still getting their share of home runs.

As far as the ball park ratings go for hitting, a lot of people have a misconception about those rating numbers. The first number (1b) determines whether or not the hitter will get a hit. The other numbers give percentages to if it could be a double, triple, or home run. So if you want to limit the hits for your opponent, choose a very low first number. If you want to maximize YOUR hits, choose a high first number.

Thanks.

I have good contact hitters, poor power hitters, good defense, and average pitching. Great speed. Average walks.

My pitchers park helps my pitchers, but I might get more out of a park that promotes hits, limits homers, but therefore makes my good defense matter more (since more hits for both teams would make defense used more often). Or it might make good pitching more important or a deeper staff needed as my pitchers might get roughed up more often.

Just figuring I must not have the right fit if losing more at home but with a positive road record.

Remember the park effects work the same for the visiting teams. I've tried putting mediocre offensive teams in hitters' parks to give them a bit of a boost, but then seen my pitchers suffer for it and cancel out any offensive benefit.

I switched to Colorado in one of my Worlds. I have enjoyed it quite a bit. The elite defense shines in Coors. I also have three pitcher's on the CY Young ballot. I doubt any of them win it due to less than the typical impressive peripherals, but it has been fun. We'll see if we can keep it up. Right now we have an over abundance of quality pitching, defense and hitting, but I can't keep that together forever.

Does anyone know if Stadium Seating Capacity effects anything?

No, it does not.

Thanks for the responses.

Anyone else want to share any strategy regarding selection of ballparks?

If I have above average (top 10 in each) pitching and fielding and have decent to good contact hitters, but much higher power and ability vs. LHP over RHP, which park effects should work best...

1b 2b 3b HRL HRR
A : 0 0 +2 +2 +1

B: +1 +1 +3 +1 0

C: 0 +4 +2 +1 0

I lean towards B, maybe C, figuring my defense and power vs LHP will play up, or am I thinking about this backwards and I should be looking at power to RF?

I’ve been sticking to 0 park effect stadiums for years and I find it helps simplify things.

I'd prefer to play to my strengths rather than do zero's across the board.

My belief is that there are not enough high quality players to go around in any world to justify limiting yourself by only building toward speed, or power, or defense, etc.

Get the best players regardless of your stadium, philosophy, or whatever, and you can win at home AND on the road, plus have answers for teams that have loaded up in any one area.

I don't disagree, except to say that for two years my team has been very good on the road, and much worse at home.
