I’m in my 3rd season in HBD and enjoying the wealth of info here. Many thanks. I have a question on promotion now that roster expansion is today in Hornsby. I’ve read that the ideal time to promote guys is after roster expansion (i.e., before the player’s offseason). However, a number of my MiLB teams are dominant this season and will have a chance to have a long playoff run. So, question is…better off promoting now before offseason or leave them in their current levels for the purposes of postseason success? Which do you feel is more beneficial for their development?

My preference is always to let them do MiLB playoffs. However, if you are in the playoff hunt at the ML level and you can actually use the prospect at the ML level, then I would call him up. You can always promote at the end of the season and get whatever rating bump the promotion would yield.

Offseason refers to after the minor league playoffs, which will finish before the big league World Series finishes. Promote during the big league World Series.

As many games as possible, then promote.

Same as tlowster. If we ever get the HBD update the MILB playoffs are supposed to be even more important to a players development (as it should be)
