Round 2, Sound off and other musings Topic

The bad: My 9 top 30 picks went 3-6
The good: My other teams went 14-6

I went 2-4 with 5 of the 6 teams scoring 2 runs or less..the "draft more offense" strategy for Round 2 off to a flying start.

Fun with small sample sizes.

The great '27-28 Yankees team lost 9-3. The trio of Ruth-Ruth-Gehrig go 0-for-10. The other 6 starters went 9-for-25. Just as I had predicted when I selected this team in the Top 30.

How about an opening salvo of 7 wins and 18 losses?

It's going to be really interesting to see how correlated draft position and winning% will be in this round.

I actually thought about this way too late to suggest, but one thing juice *could* have done to help out those teams drafting late, would be to allow a free agent pick, in reverse order of the draft, with the following two restrictions:

(1) Free agent must come from the same season range as your selected combo. So if you drafted a 2019-20 team, your free agent must come from one of the undrafted 2019-20 teams.
(2) Your free agent position must be the opposite of your clone. So if you cloned a pitcher, your free agent would have to be a hitter, and vice versa.

Are there a lot of stud free agents available? Probably not a lot. But this would have helped fill a hole that almost every team has. I bet more 2021-22 teams would have been drafted under this scenario.

I eked out a 7-6 cycle, but the bad news is that for two of my teams Randy Johnson is supposed to be my ace but they combined to allow 11 earned runs in 6 innings.

And what's another dozen hours of research at that point anyway ...

LOL, I thought of that. Would be really hard (if not impossible) to research/anticipate which free agents would be available (especially if you had an early pick), but just knowing you could fill an obvious hole (i.e., maybe at catcher or shortstop) might change which combo you drafted.

L, 0-2
L, 2-3
L, 2-8 (6 runs in 9th)
W, 2-1
L, 1-5

L, 2-5
L, 2-6

ugghhh. hope the lack of offense isn't a theme.

From my PM Game this afternoon:

HR: R.Alomar (1), E.Alfonzo (1), J.Thome 2 (2), E.Burks (1), M.Lawton (1), J.Payton (1), M.Piazza 2 (2), O.Vizquel 4 (4)

13 Home Runs total...but Omar Vizquel - four Home Runs! I'm laughing my a** off right now...

The wind was really blowing out of Wrigley today!

Game two, the Ruth-Ruth-Gehrig trio combine to go 8-for-15 with 4 HRs and 11 RBIs in a 16-0 win.

My 1887-1888 White Stockinged Colonels lost its pm game 9-8 in 11 innings. My opponent was 6 for 6 in stolen bases with players who collectively have a real life SB% of 58.6%, against my catcher John Kerins who has a performance history CS% of 41%.
