I guess now that real baseball is allegedly going to be more like baseball in the 80s, we'll see how people feel about HBD. I've read many arguments on this board that the 70s/80s/90s brand of baseball was much better than 2000s, 2010s and 2020s brand of baseball. Maybe we'll find out if those were opinions of folks that just looked back fondly on the baseball of their youth or if they truly liked that brand of baseball better. Allegedly, that's the brand of baseball they're after, even if they have to give more power than ever to the umps in order to enforce the rules.
To me, the best thing about this game is the fact that they keep databases of certain stats for players and user's stats. Not many games do that for their online games. They usually clear them or offer a limited amount of data. I know OOTP does a decent job of this, too, but I will never play that. The Commissioner can go into commissioner mode at any time and see the "real" ratings. Until that's fixed, im an HBD guy.
We can complain all we want about how outdated HBD is, but until a better product comes along that keeps stats as well as HBD, limits the ability to easily cheat, and is affordable to play, all we have is HBD and I'll continue to play it. I would like to see udates, though. Because if there is a superior product that comes along, I'll be the first to jump ship.
