Ok, if you have a player in AAA that you want to get the final promotion bonus/progression cycle when you do minor league promotions during the CS/WS, can you promote that player to the Major leagues and then demote him back to AAA and without any penalties? Or does doing that wipe out any benefit you get from the promotion with the demotion?

Great question. I've wondered this too. I think you can, but I am experienced. I think that because of the roster expansion rules and practice, that you can demote back to minors at end of regular season w/o penalty, and hence it would fall under that technical rule. Others might say there is always the chance of a demotion penalty. I'd be curious what others say.

Learned this recently - as long as it is done in the same cycle (right away) there is no penalty.
