Dice Roll - 16% Odds and Signed Topic

I just signed a 4 star player in recruiting with 16% odds against better teams. I think the reason, but not sure is that I had been recruiting the player since the beginning and had been Very High for most of recruiting, but man what a dice roll it was, going to be a staple for the next 4 years for my team.

Those reasons have nothing to do with why you signed the player you just got extremely lucky

what he means is that all those sorts of factors are already factored in to the 16%. presumably, 16% means 16%.

also, recruiting from the beginning - that used to be a small but non-negligible factor, back in 2.0. but i am pretty sure that has been eliminated in 3.0, right?

it only matters if they have the wants to play preference and you offer minutes for the compounding effect but otherwise there's no benefit specifically for being on a recruit first in itself

Silly, sorta related question: How do you see the odds before they sign? I'm in Iba D3 and don't see any odds until after the player signs and obviously it's always 100% by then.

you can't see the odds until after they sign. if you are in a battle - like, two teams on very high or high (or more than 2 teams) - it mostly should not be showing 100%. sometimes, it is 100% because one team already filled their scholarships. but when its a true battle (where there are at least 2 teams who have more than 0% odds of actually signing the player, when he does sign) - it will show you those odds.

in a 2 way, very high vs very high means both teams are in the 40-60% range. high means 20-39%. its different for 3+ way battles but that should give some idea. moderate and below vs very high is always 0%.

OK, thanks. How does that work for a D3 school recruiting a D1 prospect where even if you're leading, you're only at moderate until the final 24 hours? The reason I ask is because my D3 team got a PG who I was locked in a battle with a D2 team. Both were listed at moderate going into the final 24 hours. On the next update, he had signed with me and it said 100%? Did I win the battle/dice roll or did I luck out that the D2 team filled its scholarships before this PG made his decision?

Those recruits will sit at moderate until the end because they are still holding out hope a DI school will show interest. As for why you were at 100%, the other school filling their scholarships makes sense. Others will be able to provide insight as to whether a DIII school can beat a DII school in a battle like that; I've haven't played those divisions with this recruiting system. Great job pulling the DI prospect; hope he carries you far! :)

Thanks. That's the first time I was in a battle with a human coach at a level above me. I honestly didn't expect to get the player and didn't go overboard spending on him, which is why I'm surprised I got him and makes me think the other coach filled his scholarships. I had another good PG on the hook who I also got, but I was recruiting against sims that hadn't offered scholarships for that guy.

You can always check to see how many scholarships your rival might have by selecting:

Recruiting > Class Rankings > select opponents conference from dropdown

From there, you can see how many they've already signed, and how many openings they currently have. Keep in mind, some sneaky coaches do like to cut a guy right before a cycle; a team with zero openings can always make an opening by cutting a guy.

When the player signed, was the D2 school still listed at Moderate?
