Random Box Score League 1 (waitlist) Topic

You will get FIVE RANDOM BOX SCORES from www.basketball-reference.com. The boxscores range from any NBA or ABA game from the 51-52 thru 22-23 season.

You will get your boxscores as soon as you sign up in this classified post.

CAP is $50 million.

You must take at least TWO players from each of your FIVE box scores and the last TWO players from any of your boxscores to get to your final 12 player roster. You could choose 3 players from two of your boxscores, or load up and select 4 players from one of your boxscores.

Any box score within FOUR seasons of another box score chosen for you will be tossed and re-drawn. To say it differently, as long as they are at least 5 seasons apart they are ok. This rule will allow for more diversity in your rosters.

If you have a split season player, you can use the full season, or the partial of the season of the team he played on in the box score. Can't use the other partial. You can not use the other team(s) he played for that year.

After you create you team, please DOUBLE CHECK and use ONLY players that appeared in the game of your assigned box scores. Do NOT try to use players that didn't appear in their box score. You can avoid this by inputting the players from your boxes on a spreadsheet and then using only those players.

Divisons: The arena/stadium of the HOME TEAM of the fifth and last box score I pull for you will be the home court for your team.

Your homecourt will determine your league also. Teams will be placed in divisions based on the geographical location of their home court stadium. The 6 most west will be in the Pacific, 6 most east will be in the Atlantic, and the remaining 12 will be placed in either the Midwest or central as best I can. Exception is when two or more home courts are from the same city and that gives a division seven or more teams. the commish will use discretion to move a team.

SALARY CAP - $50 million
WW - NO
Rookies-NO
Clones - NO

NO TWISTING OF ANY PLAYERS. You must use the player from the season of your given boxscore. Seasons usually span October-April so just pay attention to know which season you should use. (Use the link in the post with your five boxes)
EX: from Hornets at Bulls, 2/25/2015, you can only take players that played in that game and can only use that player's 14-15 season. Please double check to see if your player played in that game. Thanks!

Important: I verify teams when you load them into the league. That's the easiest way as I can sort by year and check the box score. Feel free to post them here also if you like.

Ex:
1)Hornets at Bulls, 2/25/15
Players A,B
2) 76ers at Rockets, 3/27/14
Players C,D,E
3) 76ers at Hawks, 11/1/08
Players F,G
4) Pacers at Stars, 2/25/72
Players H,I
5) Warriors at Nuggets, 4/9/12
HomeCourt : Pepsi Center (Denver)
Players J,K,L

Let me know if you have any questions. Roster building in random leagues is challenging and fun.

And for complete transparency, here is the url I use to generate the boxscores which I will need someone to do for me. It opens any basketball reference page so it could take many chances to find an applicable page especially with the 5 year rule.

Chewy, is there an issue with my 2004 and 2009 games with the 5 years?

That’s 03-04 and 08-09 so that’s at least five seasons apart. All good!

I borrowed some of the language in the rules so the phrase “within 5 years” should be adjusted to match the way I intended for it to work.

as long as they are at least 5 seasons apart , not literal calendar years, it is ok. So I guess I’ll change it to say “within 4 seasons” to be more clear.

Both DNP and injured players are not eligible so they cannot be used.

The player must have actually played in the Boxscore in order to use them.

i realize injuries and “load management” might make recent seasons frustrating but that’s the luck of the draw.

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but my draws were so bad that I would like to take a second squad if you will allow it?
