4 Changes MLB Needs for Next Year Topic

1. Rules for regular season and playoffs should be the same. Get rid of ghost runners.
2.Add 5 seconds to pitch clock.Less automatic balls and ERA should be less inflated.
3. Instruct official scorers to go back to normal hit/error decisions. If mlb wants higher batting averages, then get better hitting coaches. Kevin Long in Philly has made improvements in 4 young hitters.
4. Fire Angel Henandez

Post from todays baseball blog The Good Phight

I applaud Hernandez for ejecting Harper from the game. After 81 regular season home games, did anyone in attendance really want to see more of Bryce Harper? I’m sure most of them would much rather see the third base umpire impose himself on the game.

Personally I think every ump should be graded every game, and at the end of the year the bottom 10% replaced

3. Apparently official scorers were instructed that any questionable call was to be ruled a hit, not an error. The thought behind it was it would raise averages League wide. Subject has been discussed a lot on local game broadcast here.

I would be shocked if they considered slowing down the game with the pitch clock.
That would be nutz. They made the game monumentally better and now watchable for most people.
I wouldn’t mind if they pitched as immediately as basketball players shoot free throws.

well it is obviously wrong to raise averages by bookkeeping

what they coulda done, what they shoulda done, is remove the mound

1. Nah. Didn't think I would, but I like it. Adds something to extra innings. Postseason gets you the more pure baseball.

2. Sox Yankees games finished under 3 hours for the 1st time 25 yrs. Keep it!

3. Agree. Fenway scorers has given many a hit to hitters on both teams this season rather than an error. Except devers.....he still makes E's.

4. Yep. He sux. And hes not even a joe west "im just bad enough" that I almost become good again. Dude just plain blows calls

I would add...

Throw out the divisions and make two 15 team leagues. Everyone plays everyone anyway.

6 best teams from each go to the playoffs. No more getting in just because you are in a weak division.

Make the DS 7 games.

#3 I agree it's happening, and the Phils broadcasters do talk about it a lot, but Trea Turner still managed to boot 23 balls this season. With appropriate scoring, he might have had over 40.
