This league is entering its 62nd season and needs 1 team owner. It is a 16-team (4-division) league that will continue for at least as long as I am alive. Universal DH. This team has
Shohei Ohtani and
Juan Soto!
Below are the Ohtani Rules.
Now that Shohei Ohtani is finally a pitcher as well as a hitter on WifS, he will be treated as follows:
- For any season that he is both, he will count as 2 keepers. For any season that he is not pitching (2019, 2020, and apparently 2024), he will count as 1 keeper.
- Both versions of him must be with the same EEPL team. If he is traded, both versions of him must be traded in the same deal. He cannot be on different EEPL teams under any circumstances. This is supposed to be a simulation, and having him on 2 different teams just would not be realistic.
- One version of him can be up and one version of him can be down at the same time. For example, if his pitching arm is fatigued, you may send the pitcher version down while keeping him up as a hitter. Hitter doesn't have to be in AAA just because pitcher is there.
- If both versions of him are active during the season, he will have to occupy 2 of 25 roster spots. There will be no magic 26th spot.
- He may pitch and DH in the same game, or do one or the other, or play the field (1B or RF, perhaps?), but he may not pitch and play the field in the same game at any time. The last scenario will result in a forfeit if his team wins, plus a loss of 2 spots in Round 1 of the following draft. (The only exception is some bizarre maneuvering by Sparky in garbage time, subject to review by the Commissioner.)
- These rules will also apply to any future two-way players as well as those created retroactively.
