I've never done a full season basketball league much less a progressive but was intrigued by the idea of doing one that starts in the 70's or 80's..... my preference would be to get in at the beginning of a new league but would also be open to joining an existing one. Anybody know of any that are out there and/or anybody thinking about starting something like that?

there are a few folks running progressives
benhoidal does a number of single season progressives
seapilots does a double season currently 2000, 2020 nickname dspl
ashamael does a triple era progressive currently 1980, 2000, and 2024. a bigger player pool. nickname tepl
cmcafeeky does a progressive that has a slightly different twist called class action progressive or cap for short

i would suggest you might reach out to them to let them know of your interest and they can keep you in mind when an opening occurred also check back on this forum from time to time.

I’ll say at most a new progressive only comes every couple years. With that said it’s plenty of fun to just start with a team at the beginning of a rebuild. Like Ron said there are lots of league options. The Auction progressive has 2 openings although I’ll be honest it’s far from a simple start.
