When attempting to sign minor league free agents - what is the trick to create a better offer? The system doesn't allow to increase the dollar amount offered, so how can you compete for a guy when you can't increase the offer?

I receive messages like "Another club has outbid you" or "The other club has a better path to playing at the position"

The money doesn't matter since all teams can offer only the same salary. Spring training invite is the only trick move (other than a major-league contract, which is always an option if the player has options remaining, but obviously costs more). It comes down how deep you are at a position in your system.
