rmarsh: I loved your Connie Hawkins, Billy Cunningham start but the Warren Jabali and Mike Riordan picks made me think you aren't playing Hawkins and Cunningham in the positions where they give you the most value.

coachcroft: I like your rebounding that Nater, and Lovellette bring. I wish the EFG was better but it's just the era.

Jr2325: I think you have a real shot at rounding out a solid team. I like this alot especially with the Moses, Boerwinkle start.

pexetera: There's a reason pex has his name all over the Past Champions board. Prioritizing quality with Edge and Walton was a bold move. I love it.

you got a good team going there chewy. that's a tough spot to draft from in this league. right about the 9-11 draft spot is where you're better off being toward the end of the draft. you were fortunate that Jethro took Lucas, and you got to choose between Willis and McAdoo. I like to try to secure high quality usage in the first few rounds too, and Willis fits the bill. It's gets pretty scary if you need to draft usage in the later rounds in these 50s 60s 70 leagues. That's why guys like Bill Russell are tough choices for me in the first round. Marvin Barnes is a good pick and continues to secure usage early. I still would have preferred Billy Paultz in the 2nd round for PF, which I took. But now I have to try to make it a balanced scoring team. Norm Van Lier in the 3rd solidifies this teams identity as a defensive minded team. I jumped for Charlie Edge in this round. Quality was getting scarce and it's better to have quality than try to round out 5 starters at each position. I almost always take the best player available (unless I have 48 minutes of that position already drafted, of course) Jamaal Wilkes was a brain fart. I thought Don Nelson and Paul Westphal were better choices. Mel Counts was a great pickup for the 6th round.

I have consistently performed well in DDL regular seasons but I think I’ve only made the finals once in this DDL format. For someone who does pretty well in Savage, ODL, 52 draft, and BOWIS, this has become frustrating for me not to see similar success. I went back to the analytics to see what I could learn. Admittedly, I tried to see if I could recognize your past patterns or strategies. I think I picked up on it and tried to use that this draft.
It’s amazing how accurate you are in your synopsis. I was contemplating between Reed and McAdoo and actually had McAdoo ranked higher by raw numbers. I just thought the 100 D at PF/C was going to be more valuable than what I could show in a formula.
The 2nd rd pick was between Barnes and Paultz so I was comforting to see you take Paultz soon after me. It helped confirm I was on the right track for my strategy.
When you took Charlie Edge in the 3rd, I was almost ready to take him there but thought the type of PG I needed was very limited between Van Lier or Gola. Otherwise I wanted Edge.
In the 4th, I had my eye on Walton since he was at the top of my list based on value per minute, but since he only has 1153 minutes, I passed on him but was hoping he could come back to be available in rd 5.
It will be interesting to see how this draft ends up. Since you have decent assists out of your SG - C, you don’t need much out of your PG so it’s possible you already have the player you’re ultimately going to play at PG. Keep up the good work.
The Missed Picks, drafting taken players, and the overall draftexperience seems worse this time than the past drafts. Hopefully it’s just because of the holiday weekend.

yea, I'm chaulking it up to the holiday. I saved my PG for my last 4 picks. NOT a recommended drafting strategy. Gut wrenching. Usually, I'd recommend drafting one player from each position by round 7. round 8 at the latest. But I couldn't pass on Steve Mix in round 8. With Mix in the mix I get 20% rebounding in 3 positions on the floor at all times. With Don Nelson playing SG, that's 15% at SG too. I should win the rebounding battle in most games. I see a lot of teams that are going to end up in usage penalties.
