2025 Round 2 $140M — AL West Draft Topic

I guess technically the pick was made and then the next pick was made with the reasonable expectation that the player was available so d_rock should probably get the player, but I don't feel strongly either way

I apologize for being so quick to respond emanes, I was antsy to finish the draft before my class started, didn’t see that you wanted to change your pick

No problem. Ruling is fair.

I'll take Gary Woods instead.

Draft write-up!
I feel pretty good about how that went. I usually do well in draft leagues, and I even won the Juice tournament last year that has a lot of drafts along the way. One of those leagues I took the 24-25 Reds and was in a 20's division against a bunch of Ruth teams and won the WS. Those Reds teams were able to prevent homers better than everyone and have a lot of players with good range. So given that our league contains, Yankees, Cubs, Cardinals etc. I figured I could try a similar approach. Most of my picks were the best available hitter that had A- or better range, then after I took Seaver I basically took the whole 20's Reds rotation of Luque, Rixey, and Donohue at the end. I also like drafting high IP pitchers in drafts so I can roll with a short staff of 7 or 8 pitchers. That's why I grabbed Abernathy and Doug Jones as opposed to some better relievers with lower IP. This allows me to jump on the higher end platoon type players when the elite full-time players run out (Kal Daniels, Mumphrey to fill in the PA for Eric Davis, catcher platoon, etc. I ended up with 17 hitters and a bunch of DH types who can pinch hit late in games for my defensive minded starters. Astrodome was also key because I knew I was drafting no power players with speed and would be doing anything I can to keep the ball in the ballpark so my rangey players can save my higher OAV pitchers. In theory, it all came together nicely, but the OAV could also get killed with some of the teams I will be facing, including in this division. Hopefully Bid Purdy lives up to the hype!
