The premise of this league is that you choose a franchise and then build your roster from players who at one time played for that franchise. However, you can only use player seasons in which the player played with a different franchise. For example, if you choose to use the Cubs you could use Lou Brock from one of his Cardinal seasons, but not any of his Cub seasons. Combined stat seasons can be used, but you can’t use any version of a player that WIS identifies as being from your chosen franchise. Obviously only players who played with more than one franchise will be usable in this theme, so you won’t be seeing Stan Musial, Ted Williams, Ernie Banks, et al.
Baseball-reference.com will be used as the source of franchise/player histories. First follow the link to
https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/. When you click on a franchise a page will open with drop down menus on the left side. Click on the menu titled ‘People’, and then click on ‘Batting’ under the ‘Players’ menu. That will open up a list of all of the players who ever went to bat as a member of that franchise, including years when the franchise was based in a different city and/or used a different nickname. There is also a separate section labeled ‘Pitchers’ where you may find some additional modern-day pitchers who never had an at bat while pitching for the team. All of your team’s players must come from these lists.
The league number is
MLB145229. Standard 24 team format. The salary cap is $110M. No DH, WW, AAA, trades, clones, or injuries. Your home field must be a park that your franchise called home at some point during its history. Alignment will be chronological based on the MLB debut date of each team's earliest player. Franchises are not exclusive, and there is no limit on the number of owners who may use a given franchise.
