Im not new but I want to know when someone will start a new progressive from scratch. Its been a long time since I noticed anyone starting one with the draft as most are just continuations or restarts. There are many good ideas Commish's have had in various leagues that can make this less routine for those who have been around for 20yrs.... good ones I have seen.
- C23's NWP with CPs and Random roll drawings in 34th season. The best league I have been in. The only thing I would have done different is limit the CPs to a max of 7 for any player so folks cannot hoard best players for most of the career.
- J4M formula league to prevent tanking. Basically the 1st round draft pick is based on how efficient you are with your Salary/Win vs. having high salary, a lot of Wins and not having a chance at high pick.
- One thing I have not seen anyone try is doing like a 4yr skip. Basically (for example..you go from 1920 to 1924 the next year). That basically means you can cover 100yrs in 25 seasons and no one really gets more than 5 seasons of Ruth and you actually may miss on some of the insane seasons depending on when they were. Could even do that as a regressive.
Im sure there are other good ideas that dont make it too hokey to comprehend. If I had the time to run it, I would. If someone steps up to Commish, obviously they will get the free team but I would also buy one for them the first two years. I think that is one of the many challenges right now is that of the strong progressives..they are simply just stale and owners continue to shuffle in/out.
