DT/DE ARCHETYPE TRAITS Topic

One thing about the game that feels a little off to me is the distinction, or lack thereof, amongst DE and DT. IRL DT are larger, less mobile run stoppers primarily. DE are on the edge where perimeter speed is more important. In the game player rating formula, there are very few pure Defensive End types. If a player is ranked very high as a defensive tackle chances are they rate highly as a DE.

is there any use in worrying about who you start at DE vs DT as ratings make them virtually indistinguishable?

I like putting faster guys at DE and the brutes (high STR and TKL) and DT

Well, hopefully the new owners of the game will be able to add some transparency to the game.

There does need to be definition about characteristics that mean something to the game. I have converted LB to DL ending up with DL having 90 speed. Didn't change any stats compared to the slower dunderfoots at 40 speed in regards to tackles and sacks.

In the same context, I have had those 90 speed converted LB's (now DL) running back punts and kick-offs with as good outcomes as RB/DB/WR.

I don't recruit DE's & DT's any different. Only use one rating for my DL's. Also only use one rating to recruit LB's and DB's for what it's worth.

I didn't think it was possible to have LBs returning kicks or punts. LB are not listed on the KR/PR depth chart.

Is there any correlation between DL with high Elusiveness (like 80+) and better than average sacks?

Long Time ago. Before they added the new position roles in each player's profile.
