WE WANT LEAGUES AVAILABLE WITH FEWER TEAMS THAN 24 Topic

I am for having some variety in the number of teams required to form a league. I think its a good idea.

While the programmers are at it, I would love to see additional filters similar in wis baseball where you can sort by American League/National League, etc.
I would like to be able to sort by NBA/ABA and Eastern Conference/Western Conference.
There are literally loads of theme leagues that would have been formed if there were 8 and 12 and even 16 teams leagues available. I had a few myself that got to 8 or even 12 owners, but could not get even close to 24. I mean, it's common sense that putting 24 teams together for a theme league idea is gonna be very tough. Most have to resort to having some owners take 2 teams to be able to get to 24 teams.

I just don't get why the people who run this site would resist this. It's clear that there would be many more guys paying for seasons than there are now. If they made 8 team leagues available I'd start a progressive league with the 51-52 season immediately.

I just sent in a request for a refund for the 8 NBA seasons that I paid for but have not used. If they are not going to make leagues available for 8 teams and 12 teams I don't see myself playing anymore. Let's see what they say.

I have thought about this also. Leagues are better with 16. No question. And bad teams can’t become contenders without a lot of luck with 24 teams. Just doomed.

Yes, 16 would help, but we really need 8 and 12 too. If you want to do a progressive league from the beginning you have to have 8 team leagues, and 12 teams would be ideal for other types of leagues. It would be like half of a current 24 team league.

What kind of company ignores what their customers are asking for?

I like 8 and 12 also. Anything 16 or less.

I'd start a progressive league that would have 8 teams from 1952-1967. Once you get to 1968 the ABA starts so you can go to 16 teams then.

Bruce,

Yep, your NBA seasons are fine. The only thing that won't be available is the SportsHub wallet, which most don't use anyway.

Thanks for the feedback on SimLeague Basketball. I meet with the devs on Tuesday and will have that on my list to ask about. What you're saying makes total sense. I will get back to you on that.

As far as the ads, I haven't touched any of the settings since we bought the business. I understand they're annoying but they do provide a not insignificant amount of revenue - but again, I understand they're annoying so I'm looking into alternatives for this as well.

Thanks again - please don't ever hesitate to reach out.

-Bob

Bob, this new payment plan may be problem for me. I have 4 more NBA seasons paid for. Can you check and make sure they are What If seasons that can still be used after January 15?

BTW, is anything happening with making NBA seasons available with just 8, 12 and 16 teams?

Right now you can't have anything but 24 team leagues which is killing a lot of leagues that could be playing. It's very tough to get 24 owners for any theme league. Usually they only happen if several owners take 2 teams apiece. In order to have a progressive league that starts with the first season that you offer, 1951-1952, we need to be able to have 8 team leagues. The first like 16 seasons in the NBA can only be played with an 8 team league. The NBA had just 8 or 9 teams in that era.

Also, are we gonna remain stuck with all of the advertising in the forum? It's a huge pain in the *** to use the forum as things constantly pop up that you can't post through, and you can't read the posts that are there without working your way around all the ads.

My hot take is if you have smaller leagues it will be the death of the bigger leagues and I think that would be tragic

I think the opposite. It will be good riddance to only having one out of every 24 teams win a championship. I've only gotten to 2 conference finals and lost both of those. Also, I am damn sick and tired of every league having like 10 different Steph Currys and LeBrons and Rodmans and **** like that.

Nothing wrong with a nice 12 or even 16 team league like it was back when many of us were first into the NBA. Also the progressive leagues that would finally be possible with 8 and 12 team leagues for the 50s, 60s and 70s seasons. Hopefully they also allow the option of not having 3 point shots too.

Having a lot more league to choose from would be much better for the game than having to have several owners having 2 teams in the same league just to fill it up.

I would like some insights on how to build competitive teams. What little info I find on previous posts have helped but they are from 2022 and I would hope there have been others who could have some info. I am not trying to copy winning teams but I lose 60 games every time.

I’d love to help and I know others would as well. I’ve never seen you in any leagues. Are you just playing open leagues? I haven’t played in one of those in years. The users who play custom leagues all stay pretty connected in a discord server which you’re welcome to join. People on there would be willing to give advice.

Also, the usage thread that Ash made is pretty helpful if you haven’t seen that one.

Those threads are as accurate today as they were the last time they were updated. Seriously, nothing has changed in the sim in more than fifteen years - just new players. My usage thread and my building better teams are where you need to start.
