You can do it, but you need to find a LB with maximum (or near max.) Tackling because he's going to lose about 15% of his Tackling rating. You also need near max Strength. His Strength will remain the same, but still you want a guy with near max Strength. He is also going to lose approximately 15% of his Game Instinct and Technique.
His Speed and Elusiveness will increase, though how much depends on how high his Spd and Elu are already, impacted by the law of diminishing returns. His Athleticism and Stamina will remain the same.
He won't be ready to start until he's an upperclassmen because he's got ground to make up in Tackling, Game Instinct and Technique. You really need him to have high work ethic and decent potential.
His Work Ethic could be impacted by the position change. That depends on his class (Fr. So. Jr. Sr.) and how many LBs and DLs you have on the roster. If he's an upperclassman, his work ethic will plummet no matter what. If he's a sophomore then his WE will likely decrease but maybe not by much if you have fewer DLs than LBs. Best bet is converting a Freshman. If he's a freshman then the impact on his WE is based entirely on how many LBs and DLs you have on your roster. His WE could even increase if you've got lots of LBs and few D-linemen.
