How is this coverage executed? Topic

I'm currently playing a game vs USC with my PSU team. I came across something curious in the pbp. The majority of the time the safeties are listed in coverage. Even when more than two receivers are being looked at it's the safeties listed in coverage. This is an example:

Defense lines up for a pass with a cover Medium. Herbert Newman takes the snap and drops back to pass. The defensive line has broken through. O'Neill (Good) is covered at the USC 48 (Medium). Young (Howe) is covered at the 50 (Medium). Newman throws to a covered Hendrix (Howe,Good) at the USC 48 (Medium). Pass is overthrown. Incomplete.

Howe and Goode are the safeties.

I asked the devs about this and they said it's a tactical setting. They can't divulge how it's being done. So fair enough. Anyone have any ideas? Can list it here or send me a DM.

Seems like a nice advantage not having the LBs involved.

What positions are O'Neill, Young and Hendrix?

RB,TE,TE.

A different example

Defense lines up for a pass with a cover Medium. Herbert Newman takes the snap and drops back to pass. The offensive line gets the first step. Here comes that strong defensive line, they are starting to break through. Nelson (Howe) is covered at the PSU 43 (Medium). Hendrix (Good) is covered at the PSU 41 (Medium). Newman throws to a covered Herman (Howe,Good) at the PSU 43 (Medium). Pass is overthrown. Incomplete.

RB,TE and then WR Herman who is now double covered by both safeties. After each one was in earlier coverage on the RB and TE. Not a LB in site.

Safeties will cover anyone in the area defined in your gameplan (short, medium, long). Are your LB set to cover? My concern is where is the CB coverage on the WR?

judging just by this it looks like he has all his lbs on the line.
